Unhappy Where to buy Weber 48 IDA intake for 12A?

So,

Where can I get a good deal on a 12A intake for a Weber 48 IDA carb? I've heard you can get them "out of Australia" for around $150 US. Who has details on that dea? Any used ones out there? Any pointers? Thanks. Dster

Hmm, not quite

Both of those links are good for DCOE side draft carb stuff, including intakes. However, I don't see any 48 IDA intakes. Seems a bit tough to track down . . .

Yeah, the carb itself is discontinued but he's after a manifold.

Racing Beat may have that IDA style one, but I think they only have 13b ones

Yeah, the IDA is an old carb, no longer made. However, it does still kick some serious bootie when it comes to making horsepower and being reliable.

Racing Beat may have one, I can't recall. However, I know they're spendy and I was hoping to find something less expensive. . . Maybe I'll just have to fab something.

Gene Berg is MAKING IDA carbs - (www.geneberg.com)
Pricey, but very nice.
We have one running on the E/Production engine on the dyno now.

We are hoping to have IDA manifolds for all engines (obviously rotary only) in stock in maybe a month?

Thanks Mazdatrix

Thanks for the Gene Berg link Mazdatrix. Very informative.

I just picked up my 48 IDA yesterday, so I need to learn all I can about jetting, tuning, setup, etc.

How much will the intakes to be carried by Mazdatrix run? Will they be cast or mandrel bend tubing or ??

Thanks. Dan

Intake manifold

Is it possible to replace the intake manifold with out pulling the engine? For $200 this will free up some HP, right?

Yes it's possible to pull the manifold with engine in the car... it's only 6 bolts and some hoses, practically falls right off.

$200??? What are ya gonna buy for $200? last I've seen an IDA manifold runs for $300 and an IDA carburetor is $400-600 depending on who you're buying it from (used). As for freeing up power... yes and no... you CAN make more power if you tuned it right, if you just throw the carb on and cross your fingers MAYBE you'll have somewhat acceptable results, most likely not, you gotta play with it and tune for your particular car.
