Wheels for 12a
I used to own an se and had a wide variety of wheel choices and had some slick 16 inch konig veiges on it which are 5 spoke design. Im looking at buying a 84 12a and i know the lugs screw in rather the normal way on these. My question is am i able to do something simple so that i can get rims like what i had on my se without having to change alot of stuff? Like spacers or something. Ive been a bit disapointed with the rim choices ive found so far for the stock setup. Thanks, Karson

I have heard of people putting 4x4.25(*) wheels on 1st-gens. The idea scares the living crap out of me. The bolt circles have a 1mm difference in radius and that is going to put a LOT of side load on the lug nut/lug bolt as it is torqued down, because of the taper.
I can think of two ways to circumvent: Use shank-type wheels and oval the holes, or use a taper reamer on the Ford-pattern wheels. Either way will require a proper mill to do right.
Coincidentally, I have access to a Bridgeport, and just might go this route for a set of rally-beater wheels that will fit over 11.75" brakes.
The next step would be installing 11.75" brakes...
(*) Fords have been using this bolt pattern for decades. Originated with the wonderfully odd Ford of England models. As such, I refer to it in its true form, 4.25", and not some bastardized, metricized 108mm.

You can run wheel adapters. You can put just about any wheel you want on your 7. I have a set and they are excellent, probably the best purchase ever. I have 17" motegi MR7s on mine, check out my signature.

Im not sure if those gold rims that youve got will fit on 12a's. The reason i say this is about 3 years ago when i had my se a friend of mine has a 12a and he wanted to buy my rims from me. We tried to put them on but the bolt pattern was slightly off and plus the screw on style lug nuts and studs wouldnt allow an aftermarket rim to go on. If there is a kind of spacer or lug conversion kit that offers the same bolt pattern as what an se has then that is the answer. Thats what my question was in the first place. I know i could do a conversion with the axles and brakes but im not looking at all that kind of modifications to it. The car is all original and is from what i can tell show quality so all id want to do is put something on it that i can reverse if i choose. I see custom rims alot of first gens but didnt know how they did it. This is where my question arises. As for the gold rims good luck selling them. I had a set on my se just like those that i sold when i got the replacements. Mabe someone with an se will buy them from you. As for the 14 inch rims that are being offered i appreciate the offer but im looking for about a 16 inch 5 spoke style rim. The car already has 14 inch rims from the 83 anniversary cars on it. Thanks for all the suggestions and if theres an answer please let me know. Ill greatly appreciate it. Karson

Wow! Goodyear T-Metrics! They haven't made those in *years*.
They were superceded by the Club, which is actually a nice street/drag tire... the compound doesn't go slimy when you get the tires hot.
But, otherwise, I'd think you're really opening yourself up to liability issues if you sold them for a 110mm-cicle car.

A guy on Team FC3S told me that if you swap to normal-style wheel studs 4x108's will fit. That's the "fairly reliable source" I mentioned in the for sale post. His name is jonfc3s, and he's usually right-on with his info.

I have those little guys for sale. No clue on wheels specs, I don't know that kind of stuff I do think it's obvious that they'll fit though!

yep. i work at a tire shop so i'm able to measure the exact warp to the rim. (i can prove prinouts if need be)
it's still balance-able, and driveable on the street. though i only use them for autocross at the moment.
i'll be selling them after the 25th of this month(last autocross to finish off the tires)
