What's A Rebuilt 12a Worth? 40K On The Engine

I've got my 12a and 5 speed for sale in the 1st gen section but I have no clue what to ask for it, it was rebuilt a couple years ago and has about 40K on it, it was rebuilt from front to back, has good compression, doesnt smoke and runs real decent, tranny is in good shape also.

It's a complete pull-out with everything, whats a reasonable price?

$500-$1000, depending on who did the rebuild.

Thanks for the quick responses, I have a guy who's interested but he's all the way in FL, got a quote of $250 to ship it so I'll see if he's still interested, if not I'll try ebay.

Thanks guys.

Ok, I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead, but I keep getting offers of like $150 for the engine and tranny.......if I put this on ebay - Will it pull better numbers? Honestly Here Guys.

I'm pretty new to rotaries and dont know prices very well yet but $150-$200 seems pretty cheap for a good running, good compression lower mileage 12a+tranny.

So Should I waste my time putting it on ebay or should I just ditch it for $150 to whoever? Thanks Guys.

Hey man if all you are going to get is 200 I will drive up there and get it from you.

The only problem with the "40K" is this - How do I know for a fact that it actually has 40K on it? What if it is just a decent running 12A? What if the tranny is shot? How do I know? These are the questions that everyone is asking themselves. Its hard to sell engines. I mean, if you wanted to, you could say that it was street ported just to get more money out of it. Who would know any better?

Not trying to be a dick, but these are all the questions and more that I asked myself when I bought my motor that is streetported. I honestly dont know that it is streetported, it might not be. PO also said that it had 15K on rebuild. Sweet, but it may actually have 115K on it and how would I know?

Do you have some compression numbers? Even if with a piston tester with the needle out, it would give at least a decent idea. Do you have any paperwork showing what work was done?

Yeah I Definanty Understand Your Point.

The person who would know about the rebuild was the previous owner, his screen name on here is dole2000 (I sent him a PM already), I know it was rebuilt because it has the rebuild date and the reason why (apex seals) written on the radiator and in chalk in the engine bay.

Your right, I cant promise there's 40K on it, but it ran REAL decent IMO.

I know basicly nothing about rotaries & prices compared to piston engine's but a friend of mine checked the compression when I got the engine with his digital gauge and I think he got 7 or 8 on both rotors?, if that makes any sense to you guys.

I think I'll just try ebay, if I get $150 Or $200 than thats what its worth, I'll take it and be happy, I just figured it would be worth more.

Thanks For The Help, I Do Appreciate It.

$500 to $1000 would be correct for the engine but you need to prove it runs, and have the receipts for the build, and paper work showing who built it to get the higher price.

If it is out of the car and you just say look here it is, well it is just not worth near as much.

Also we are notirous for being cheap in the 1st gen section, hard to justify a $500 engine for a $200 chassis.

Last full motor I sold I got $600 for it. took 2 months to get it sold, It was in the car so I run it for the guy and then we pulled it.
