Hemingway? LOL that's hilarious

But there is update...

As of a few days ago, I am officially no longer unemployed! I start on Monday. The cool thing is, the shop is very quality oriented (not a churn-n-burn type shop) AAAND the shop is (if I understand correctly) an offshoot of a local speed shop. And they (we ) apparently do installs. Part of how I got the job was my racing history and my willingness to work with obscure stuff. Willing? Hell I THRIVE on it.

I knew it was gonna be a good deal when there was a 280Z in the back of the parking lot. And there's a big photo of a Top Alcohol dragster in the lobby. And there is a complete badass-looking BBC in the shop area, with various BBC spoor lying about. (And I'm not even a Chevy fan, but hey, iron is iron...)

ISP to resume in a month or two. Got other obligations first.

which mall? and which 7?

You mean Midway Mall in Elyria? Last time I worked there was October '01. That car died a few months later and met crusher sometime in 2002. Paul Aber knows for sure, I left him with the carcass when I was done extracting what i wanted from it, said all the windows popped at once when it was getting crushed Last time I drive a Southern car in the winter, that's for sure.

The new place is in North Olmsted.

Wait... You have a gold LS? I've seen a gold LS in N.O. a couple times, last summer or so when I'd go to the Yummy Kitchen (great Chinese food) over on Sparky/Brookpark Ext. roads. Anyway, this new place is near there.

yeah midway mall. they call it westgate now. i am sorry to hear about the car dying. yeah, it has been awhile since i saw your car there. i was talking about the rusty 80. it is the one on your webpage and the one with videos. i bought the gold LS this year. it came from NY. it is really a nice car. only 57, 8** miles. i don't know if you remember me, but i went down the track with you in your 80. also, you showed me the door handle trick.

Yeah I remember... I think the best it ran that night was 15.8 or something equally crap. Good fun tho I still miss the stupidness of it all tho As they always say, maybe next year!

If I can get the ride height up, the dump pipe *is* going on the '85. After I get a valid emissions, meaning gotta stuff a cat on there long enough to get E-checked so I have a valid certificate for '05. Then the next evil engine can begin....

From The Last Day's of the Noble Manntis:

"Here's a detail for ya: you invaded a nation on grounds of WMD, ignoring UN cautions to the contrary. No WMD? No problem! we'll call it a humanitarian thing.

Here's another detail: the US is backing similar regimes in the guise of Usbekistan and others while going on about how horrible Saddam was - and conveniently downplaying US backing of him, too.

Here's another detail: you pack have yet to admit to being wrong about anything and instead are resorting to a shitload of PMs and now public attacks on me and I'm losing my ******* patience.

I was right about my predictions prior to the war, and I bring up continuing issues for discussion. Why? Because there are real discrepancies between the WHite House's reports and the real world and you are being to pig-headed to see it for yourself.

And what do I get for it? ******* sophmoric attacks and PMed threats. According to you bunch I should have been blown up in Bosnia. According to you it's a shame my foster parents didn't beat me to death. According to you it's a good thing Canadians were bombed by Americans in Afghanistan, and even better that one of them was my friend. Why? Because my opinions differ from yours.

******* immature ********, every one of you truth-denying neo-cons. **** you all and your ******* childish games. I'm sick of even trying to help you, you don't dseserve it. I'm outta here."

--Manntis, December 20, 2003

Well worth a reread. Manntis, if you are out there lurking, I'm with you 100% on this one.

Maybe Manntis has some maturity issues of his own, but no shortage of eloquence and useful, interesting perspectives. I sure miss his presence on the forum.

Well update with me. I work for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana now, I work about 50 hours a week, drive 1 hour 15 minutes one way to work so I stay pretty busy. I got tired of working on the car so I kinda parked it. Actually I got really sick of looking at the car sitting in the garage taking up space so i parked it outside, its well covered tho. But I do plan on working on it soon, I got way too much invested in it, not to work on it from time to time. I got a smoking issue with it, and im postphoning the inevitable, i think I should rebuild it and get a new turbo with a nice exhaust manifold to boot. After that im adding a nice wideband o2. Hopefully this summer I can drive it. It still needs the bodykit finished and painted tho. I do still start it from time to time, just to let the bugs and grass knows whos boss. SMOKEY SMOKEY Lol

Mike! Glad to hear you're still with us. I was in your neck of the woods this past summer and thought about stopping in, but figured you were busy (I hear TMMI works their employees pretty hard but pays well for the effort). Once I get my rack & pinion installed and my dual side-drafts worked out I'll head back down your way for you to check it out.

I remembered a quote from him when I read your post...it fit perfectly...

Far from it.....you have to read the preceding 4 - 6 months of "debate" in the DoO corner on Iraq, Afghanistan and Dubya to see how "mature" Manntis was in the face of some of the most idiotic "rah, rah" patriot crap that was getting posted there before he finally lost it. The attacks started going from Canada in general to the Canadian military and then finally, simply insults directed at him. Unlike most of us that dwell in the Kombat Zone there, he finally let it get to him and exited stage left. The final lesson, that Fools will be Fools, never occurred to him dealing with that crowd...

Thanks for the summary and perspective, Mar3, sounds the "DoO corner" is a dangerous place!

Still, it wasn't the folks on the 1st gen forum that caused the problem, the "flame wars" here are much more entertaining than they are insulting.

If someone is in touch with Manntis I hope they will extend an invitation to rejoin the group.

What's this DoO corner, anyway, is it part of the RX7.club forum?

Go to the Lounge and then you'll see a sub-board called the Difference of Opinion board....it was made to keep all the especially ascerbic subjects off of the main Lounge Board after the Iraqi thingamabob became Dubya's obssession...Woe to All Who Pass Her Doors...
