What are the two things in the oil pan? 1983 GS with 12A

This is a really simple question for some of you guys in the know. I've never really been able to figure out what the two things on the driver side of the 12A oil pan are for.

#1) One of them has a big plastic white connector that plugs into the harness. It is the one in the front, on the driver's side. It is about 2 inches in diameter. I am guessing that this is the oil level sensor? Can someone confirm for me?

#2) The other one is in the back driver's side of the oil pan. It looks like some kind of a temperature sensor. It has a metal spade connector that plugs into it. I am guessing that this is a temperature sensor for the sub zero start assist tank? I've removed my emissions, so I can take this sensor out and plug the hole in the oil pan right?

Please tell me if my guesses are right. Much appreciated y'all!

Jamie

Ok, so the oil level sensor in the front obviously needs to stay.

But the sub zero assist thermostat in the back I should be able to remove, along with its wire, right?

yeah you can remove it. you can just find a threaded plug to fill its place. or leave it as it wont help or harm anything

I think I'm just going to cut the wire on the sub zero sensor and leave it in the pan. I'm trying to clean up all the extra wiring that I don't need anymore since I stripped down the car....

That will work. I've had a few where the wire was already broken right at the sensor. They look ok.

Yea I just cut the wire off and leave it in there, much cheaper/eaiser than finding another plug that size, and it would look pretty much the same anyway

I need to do this as well, I have wires running all over that are disconnected after the rats nest removal. Wish there was a simplified wiring harness out there.
