just about anything will work, even the crappy wal mart super tech stuff.

or if you want a more race car-ish smell go to a local motorcycle shop and pick up some racing castor 2 stroke oil, keep in mind it is pricey though! reminds me of the motocross races.

I just grab a big jug of whatevers cheapest at the store. It's mostly all the same stuff there anyway. I think the one I have is regular 2-stroke snowmobile or something premix.

why would they? it doesn't actually protect much if you are strictly using it as a premix. i thought people learned not to use MMO as a "premix" years ago. if you're really curious, get an old 2 stroke leafblower and run it with MMO and see how long it runs for, i'm actually curious.

I've decided to switch to Idemitsu, I have to order it online but I find itll be worth it to order a few bottles at a time.
And its cheaper than Motul.

I would be willing to use anything that met "JASO-FC" classification. It is the second most demanding classification and is what the Idemitsu premix is.

I have been ordering the Idemitsu from Mazdatrix by the case, its really not that expensive, worth the peace of mind to me.

perhaps we can now have the synthetic versus conventional oil argument as well.

Any TCW-3 rated non-marine 2-stroke is fine.

MMO has no lubrication benefits. Keep away from that ****. Here are the ingredients of MMO, and they are not pre-mixing material. I can go into specifics about each chemical, but to sum it up, they are all harsh solvents. Light oil, naphtha and isopropyl alcohol.

Ingredient # 01
Ingredient Name BENZENE, 1,2-DICHLORO-
CAS Number 95501
Ingredient # 02
Ingredient Name MINERAL SPIRITS
CAS Number 8052413
Ingredient # 03
Ingredient Name NAPTHENIC HYDROCARBONS
CAS Number 64742525

I agree, MMO was developed years ago to clean carb jets and things that get gummed up and its good at dissolving that kind of thing, never meant to be a lubricant.

i used to premix one of my old cars and one day i was filling up and poured a quart of oil in the gas tank and some guy at the pump next to me screamed, "HEY! You're not supposed to put that in there!"

i was like, "what? are you serious? oh **** man, i didnt know... what do i do?"

it was funny seeing the look on his face

The Lucas premix is excellent. It doesn't smoke or smell as bad as or soot up the tailpipe as much as the cheap stuff. It really is low ash.

I used Castrol's 2 stroke stuff for years and it works fine. But is not low ash.

MMO has mineral spirits and benzene, that's just great. Mineral spirits is an irritant and attacks the nervous system as does naptha. Benzene is a carcinogen. Do you really want to breathe that?

I wouldn't use anything synthetic as a mix, or in general on a rotary. They just don't burn as cleanly as regular oil. The last thing you want is some sort of residue building up in the chamber itself, possibly rendering your spark plugs inoperable, or worse yet adding increased resistance on a seal, eventually causing it to stick. The only exception of course being the Idemitsu synthetic. There is a good little write up in this subject here http://mazdatrix.com/faq/synthetc.htm
