maybe you could go old school and frech them in... i've been thinking of ways too do this as well... or maybe you could fill the hole that the stock light was mounted... relocate a different type of flush mount light where ever you think it would look good... that is what i was leaning towards...

The answer!!
Shaving your lenses is pretty simple but you must take your time for that great custom look!!
First you have to place the lense behind/back side of the front fender or rear fender. Carefully mark the front side of the lense with a fine marker. After doing this (the tricky part) you can either file down or sand the outside of the marked line, the inside of the marked line you will carefully check the fit to the actual front or rear fender opening. Carefully sand down and around the lense until you get the proper fit. If the lense tend to stick out farther then the metal body, thats OK, you can use 8oo grit or 1000 grit wet sand paper to bring it back down, then you have to polish it for the final finish.
Once you are satisfied with the fit, you can go to your local auto part store and purchase and epoxy adhesive to mount your lense. You must remove all oil/grease from the surface. Mark the area were the lense will be placed, then scratch the surface of the metal, so the epoxy will stick. You can use some duck tape to keep the lense in place until the epoxy is set. After the inital setting you can apply more epoxy if you wish. And thats how it is done, trust me I have done dozens and have never had a dissatisfied customer.

hey, my marker lights don't look all that bad without the molding....though they aren't flush. Could someone post pictures of the final result (^^) and/or the process? Putting the lenses on the inside look good, but I don't really like the screws sticking out like that....plus I like the shap of the lens. but good work being creative and customizing your car. Kudos.

gen10nr-- didnt you say you had to use special bolts/nuts for this. more info please
sprayer-- i definately want to see finished pics. i think i get what youre saying though. sand down the light so that its flush with the outside rather than behind it. good idea. i see the epoxy working. one question, what about the two holes for the bolts? how soon can you get pics? i have to move next weekend so i need to try to be done by then. thanks

As for the bolt holes
As for the bolt holes the best thing to do is to fill them in by weld, smooth the surface after the weld and you'll have a custom/factory look. I won't have any pics soon because I am in the process of opening a new custom paint shop for motorcycles and small imports only. This is pretty much taking majorityof my time. Lucky though, I do have several RX7's that I will start around the second week of August and yes they are getting their lenses modified. If you can wait, I promiss to post some pics of the whole process.

i figured youd say weld. i dont have a welder at my disposal and i have no experience welding. ill just go the route of using bolts to hold the lights in. that fine with me. ill also do what you did and sand the lights so itll be flush rather than behind the body panels. thanks for the info.
