what lubricant do I use for the gear stick

hey, im still kinda new to working on cars in general and im almost done with my first rebuild, which is a 83 GS, one thing im wondering is what type of lubricant am I supposed to use for the gear shifter on a manual transmission, the tranny is from a 12A 85 GS model, thanks

The shifter doesn't need any lube for normal use The transmission on the other hand normally
calls for 90wt gear lube in it. A couple of quarts should do it. Synthetic can sometimes cure some
ills as well.

shift box gets filled with what ever you're using in the transmission. fill it to about the top of the square thing the shifter goes in

Mike is correct. Just use the gear oil that you are using to fill the transmission. With the shifter removed, fill the shift box at the hold where the shifter mounts to the trans.
