GSL-SE with S5 block. Having trouble setting timing.

Hello again all.
I recently installed a series 5 block into my GSL-SE.
I am using all stock wiring, Ecu, injectors, distributor and AFM.
I am using a series 4 intake and a series 5 block with all series 5 internals.
Recently rebuilt with about 300 miles on the engine.

My problem is that when I set the engine to TDC and install the lined up dizzy, the timing is way off.
Like I can't even see the marks on the pully with the timing light as its cranking.
The pully was marked at TDC when rebuilt. The engine ran fine in anothe car. And the dizzy worked fine when I pulled the car into the shop a couple months ago.
Thoughts? Questions? Ideas?
Please chime in if you can help.
Thanks!!
-Robert.

there shouldn't be any trick to it, unless the CAS gear is backwards. i would set the engine to -5 BTDC, like its supposed to be, and drop the dizzy in like its supposed to be. if that doesn't work, then move the distributor a tooth until its right.

if the CAS gear is in correctly, the distributor will be just slightly off center in its adjustment, and if the CAS gear is wrong it'll be nearly maxed out.

Distributor is spinning counter clockwise. Is that right?
Also how would I tell if the CAS gear is wrong?

i think so yes. try that, if its wrong it won't hurt anything

you won't know until the engine is timed, so it doesn't matter

So from what I read the rotor on the dizzy also needs to be in line pointing to L1 correct?
Is there a way to adjust the rotor so it lines up to L1 at TDC?

lol, stop thinking about it. line the engine up to -5 TDC, line up the marks on the dizzy, put the distributor in, start it, time it. if you can't adjust the distributor far enough stop the engine, put it on -5, pull the distributor enough to move the rotor over a tooth, and try again until you can get the timing to line up.

if it doesn't run, you can still put a timing light on it, and crank it, if you're one person, the "start" wire has a connector by the steering box, and if you give it power, the car will crank

Awesome.
Ya it's just me and I do have a tendency to over think these little things. Especially when it's the last piece of the puzzle. I will try that!
Thanks!

Yellow mark is -5 right? Not 0?

Was a bad dizzy.
A friend gave me a used one. And I dropped it in (set to TDC) and it fired right up!
The dizzy has a mark on the shaft that you line up when the engine is at TDC. When you do this the dizzy rotor should be pointing at L1. The bad dizzy was 180' away from L1. The good one lined right up.
Kind of weird. Never seen that before. I will post pics later when I pull it out to clean and paint it.
