What downpipe are you turbo guys using?

I was just wondering this to see what I will have to get when I go turbo. I'm not to sure of what will fit as far as going under the car and all. Let me know what downpipe yall are using. Also where can I look for one? I was wondering if the 2nd gen turbo downpipe would fit?

Depends on what you do for the turbo.

If it's a TII swap, your downpipe is going to look different than if you turbo a stock 12a, which is different from turbo'ing a stock 13b, which is different than a cosmo turbo engine, which is different from a TII swap with an upgraded turbo.... and so on.

So pretty much, it's custom all the way. Get an exhaust shop to do it for ya once everything else is in place and running.

If you do a t2 swap a Corksport or racingbeat 3" downpipe will fit fine. You'll just have to do a custom exhaust after them. I use the RB 3" in mine.

Well I plan on using a s4 turbo and manifold, so should I just get a custom one or go with the racing beat down pipe?

Either way you're gonna have to custom something. Whether it's the downpipe itself, or the pipe directly after it.

In some cases, I guess it would make it easier for exhaust shops to fab a pipe that meets the downpipe, than to fab the downpipe itself. If that's the case, I'd consider getting the RB down pipe to minimize the amount of fab work necessary.

The problem is I don't know what the RB downpipe is shaped like. For all I know it could be at the wrong angle and not fit at all...

S5 hybrid turbo, 3inch pipe off turbine, 2.25inch pipe off wastegate with internal divider. Best setup you can have for a TII turbo.

With a stock/hybrid TII turbo (S4 or S5) the standard RB downpipe will work fine.
I ran a mild steel RB 2.5" pipe at first, and it fit up just fine.

After deciding to go 3",I got a hold of a stainless RB 3" unit. After bolting it to the turbo,it had to be heated at the lower bend and bent upward a tad to get it parallel with the floor pan.It was a minor thing, its not like it creased or crinkled or anything, just had to gain a little ground clearance.Other than that,it fits fine......

Computer is 'tarded right now,or Id post a pic......
