What Clutch would you buy?
Greetings,
The search button has not been workling for 2 days, Hence my Question.
I would like to buy the best Clutch for my 12a stock engine, I have just installed the RB muffler/header set up. and now need to upgrade the stock clutch. So any info on what had worked for you all would be great!
Thanks in advance for any help.
Ps. To all who told me to get the RB Exhuast/header set up.. THANK YOU!! love the sound and the performance is way way better then stock!!!

I think a stock clutch replacement works just fine. Now if your racing the car then other things come into play. Look at the Mazdatrix.com web site, they have a nice clutch discussion. I race 2 different first gens in SCCA club racing. The one with a stock engine uses a stock clutch/pressure plate. The one with a race ported engine uses a stock disk with a race pressure plate.

CenterForce Dual Friction clutch....survived two engines and race day "drop clutch" launches at 4500 rpm with nary a protest or smell of burned lining. That was behind a 135 HP RP Streetport 12A with full exhaust mods BUT a stock Nikki carb in poor tune. I had planned on some nitrous abuse, but the car got totaled in 2003, so the whole engine/tranny assembly is just sitting on a cart in the garage right now.

Your right the Dual Friction rocks, I just bought Vosko's!!
But for most stock 12a's the stock clutch works fine. I raced a stock clutch for a year in SCCA road racing and changed it for another stock clutch and it still had lots left. The centerforce will definitly have harder engagment and give you a little more pop but that makes it harder on the drivetrian as well.....there is no free lunch Unless I pick up your motor and take you to lunch.

lol....now way, maihn!!..I'm drooling at the day that the beast is installed in Furious and I finally get to use the ported '79 intake topped by one of sterling/rx7carl's Supercarbs. Nice hit of hidden nitrous and that CenterForce will finally be earning its keep....

anyone used a spec clutch?
i haven't used one in a 7 but i have in other cars and they ROCK.
spec makes a clutch for anything and the prices aren't too bad either.
i'm debating a stage 3 or 4 with lightened pressure plate for my project.
