Weight of Engine Block

What's the weight of the engine block (I know, I know... it's not a block)...

I mean with out all the other **** attached to it... the 5 peices of the block, and the rotors and shaft and stuff inside... what's the weight of that...

I had the idea of putting handles on the top of the block so you can reach in and pull the engine out of the bay with your hands...

Then just find some way to strap the engine in between modifying and throw it back in.... like you switch batterys... hehehehe

I am stupid/evil/tired right now...

Ummmm.... you'd best be a champion heavyweight weight lifter, the whole rotary engine with carb, intake, etc weighs like 350lbs +

It's heavier than it looks

A friend and I were able to carry a "loaded" block (it had the oil pan and front cover on it, still had all internals, no manifolds or flywheel) down a flight of stairs, but it sucked. Another friend and I were able to pick an "empty" block (5 housings bolted together, no internals or anything) up out of the back of my RX-7, but it sucked. Picking an engine up out of the engine bay without a hoist... well you'd better have a VERY strong back

My friend could bench press 300 pounds. I'll let him do it!

How exactly did you roll the engine back? And what does that mean?

Junkyeards around here use old steel rims to set the cars on so there are a good foot to foot 1/2 off the ground. I just dropped the trans first, and then unbolted the motor and pushed it backward and let it hit the soft ground underneath I stripped carb, exhaust, intake, etc off it first... It was just the basic block I needed. But actually bolted carb, exhaust etc all back up before leaving and got it all for $50!!! LOL The motor was locked up from rain or soemthing. And when I got it home I tore It all apart and the parts where freaking cherry inside
