Weight of a 12a

So I am a very do it myself, mostly because I don't have a lot of people around me who like working on cars. I am pulling the engine so I can replace the clutch. How much does a 12a weigh So I can see if I can pull it out myself.

Regards
Sumo

I doubt you can lift it out of the enginebay wiyhout help.
I can lift the motor from the floor to the workbench, but i'm a big guy too.
It's heavy and hatd to handle, get a friend to help you and save your back

Crap, see my problem is, I'm really the only one of my friends who's into cars, the rest of them don't understand why I would spend my free time with a wrench in my hand, and pay for parts that will cost me more than it's "worth". So it's pretty much up to me to do anything while working on my 7.

I don't want to sound like poor Sumo, but that's the truth.

You don't need to take the engine out to change the clutch.

what the doc said....

all you have to do to change the clutch is first, jack the car up and put it on some jack stands, remove the drive shaft, then the tranny and then the pressure plate/clutch assembly..... reverse steps to reassemble

oh yeah.... you have to remove the starter and flywheel too..... just when you take the tranny out and your doin it by yourself, make sure to put the floor jack under the tranny, although its not that heavy, you can prolly bench press it but i would just save myself the trouble and use the floor jack

Easiest way to change clutch is from underneath. Less heavy lifting, less electrical and mechanical connections to screwup, too. Not too hard to benchpress that transmission into place, but you sure do need a clutch alignment tool! Replace the pilot bearing and throwout earing, too. I've had best luck with OEM stuff from mazdatrix.com.

I believe the block itself (just the two rotor housings and rotors) is 86lbs, so tack on another 20ish+ lbs for the carb/pulleys and random crap.
