weber cold air intake idea using carls method
sorry bout the pic but its just a quick visual on wat the setup will look like..
basically position the end of the tube as close to the front as possible by removing the right radiator support and repositioning the resevoir (carsl way)
and position the other end of the tube as close to the K&N filter as possible.. so its basically just blowing cold air in and not really forcing it in (which i heard sum people say forced induction on carbs isnt really good).
wat gave me the idea is a company called cypherindustries (http://www.cypherindustries.com.au) which does CAIs just by positioning insulated tubes to as close to the k&n filter as possible.. so its not really attached to it.. just kinda hanging off it blowing cold air into the filter.
will this work?
cheers

My buddy bought a 48 IDA cold air intake from australia. the hat is enclosed with a foam filter inside like and there are 2 inlets coming in from each side of the radiator support. it was very quiet. However, due to too much restriction, it slowed down the car as well. Took it off and sold it.
what you can do is this. extend the lower plate by appx 2 inches on each side, and weld a surround plate (say as tall as the air filter), then add the inlet ducts on each side. but leave the top open. the idea is to have less hot air coming from the engine compartment.

Airflow is my life
I dont think itll be a vast improvement. The CAI I worked up doesnt force air into the carb, it just makes the carb pull in cool outside air. Make a box for your carb, like a turbo hat. Then attach your hose to that.

Ive seen pretty much your picture, but with a metal box surounding the filter with a large diameter pipe goin to the CAI. looks alright and i imagine at speed it would be rather effective, dont know about slow or idle though
