Talking Waking her up

IT IS TIME!!!

Spring is around the corner and I'm working on getting the car out of the garage...over the winter I've done the clean up project where I took it down to the upper intake and cleaned her out. I also replaced the vacuum hoses and got a glass moonroof .

With the 7 budget I did order the following over the winter:

Tokico HP Shocks and Struts
Suspension Tech Springs
Front end bushing set
Optima battery
Spark plug wires
Brake pads
and Tires
(am i missing anything?)

Today I got the tires mounted and speed ballanced so this weekend I'll be able to roll the car out the garage to do some other work like change the oil, spark wires (plugs were put in just before hibernation) and charge the old battery until the new one arrives...

Ah...spring...ain't nuthin' like it...

The 20th I'll have someone from the forum over helping me with the bushings...so it'll be steaks and beer that day

I'm sure I'll have some SE questions for the forum as I work toward my goal of restoration...(longduck are you listening? )

Cool,

your ST springs look alot like my racing beat ones.. though my racing beat ones would match your colour scheme better - they're red

i thought long and hard to match the color scheme with a set of rb but i wanted a set of springs that were as close to stock spring rate as possible w/o getting the expensive Mazda ones...

hmmm...can they be painted? prob not though...grey isn't that bad...whats worse are the tokico blues...can those be painted???

DAMN!!! I wish I pulled out my digital cam...everyone could have finally seen what inittab and 82transam look like

But they came over this morn and here is what was done...

3 out of the 4 springs and shocks, all of the frontend bushings, rear swaybar bushings, brake pads, ss brake lines, and master cyl.

not bad for 1 days work...it was 3 out the 4 because the drivers front is REALLY stuck in there...so we are leaving it off for next week...

whats funny is that its my car but they did most of the work...i was just helping along and making sure they had drinks

we took her for a test drive and found the brakes to be a bit soft so i'll be bleeding them again tomorrow. i instantly noticed the difference in the suspension...it felt tighter but like a newer more solid ride...definately worth it!

maybe i'll take my cam next week if we get together to finish her up...

i would post pics but most of the work is not visible without taking the wheels off...unless you want to see my red top battery in my engine bay

so...

i thank both inittab and 82transam for coming down to my home and helping me out!!! i really appreciate it and hope that someday soon i can return the favor in some way...

yeah we had a good time beat'n on Hector's car. You shoulda seen look on Hector's face when he heard all the banging.

It's too bad we couldn't get that drivers side strut out. Man that sucked. It looks like we're gonna hafta grind the contrl arm bolt off to finish the job.

Just wait til your springs settle in a week or two, then you'll be really happy.

Happy rotoring,

Zac

Here's what was done...

1. New pads, replaced master cyl with functional used one, changed out brake lines with ss brake lines (man what a diff!!!)

2. Changed out most bushings in the front and the rear.

3. Changed out 3 of the 4 springs/struts/shocks...the drivers side front will have to be done later.

4. Changed out to a red top optima battery.

5. Changed oil, spark plug wires and replaced wipers and battery harness...

I can't wait for the suspension work to be done so I can move on to DRIVING!!!!

Glad to hear it was just a matter of bleeding them, and not something more serious. Stainless brake lines kick *** don't they? Thats cool about saturday, I should probably take some time to work on my own stuff

had the final spring and strut installed as well as the final front bushing and an allignment done! today was pretty much my day of opening up the car and wow what a difference new suspension does to an old car!

what's left???

well, i'll need to finish installing the rear bushings (not all of them to stay safe)...that will be done whenever i visit 82transam and inittab again...

tomorrow if its a nice day i'll be cleaning her inside and out and taking pix for my website.

i just recieved my replacement OMP in the mail today...thanx goes to gregs for the OMP...i'll be rebuilding it soon.
