verry high idle speed
verry high idle speed
Hey guys I'm new to this forum and I would like to ask a question. I have a 1982 RX7 completly stock. I just bought the car form the original owner and the only problem was that it had been sitting for 5 years. My father and I rebuilt the carbs and put them back in and we finaly got the car to start. When we got it to start it was idling at 4000 and higher I cant seem to find any vacume leaks and i was concerned about letting the car run for to long at such a high rpm. If anyone could point me in the right direction please.
thanks in advance

Sounds like the throttle stop screw isn't set correctly. Even a fairly slight adjustment can go a long way to getting that idle speed down to where it should be.
Check out the FSM for your car. It should also help.

BTW, having your car idle at 4K won't hurt it, just burn up a lot of fuel. These cars' redline start at 7K.

thanks for the advice the secondaries had gotten stuck open just a little. Now I just have to play with it till I get the right settings. At the moment I'm concerned that the oil metering pump isn't working, because their is no oil in the lines on the carb or anywhere else I can see. Im about to do a search to see if I can find anything.
