vacuum leak? help
well here's the problem, my 83 mazda had a vacuum leak so i got the carburetor rebuilt. and today i put it back on, the problem is it sounds the same as when i first got it like a vaccum leak any recommendations?
well, if you never addressed the leak, then why wouldn't it sound the same?
it would be best if you described exactly what the car is doing. however, assuming that it is indeed a vacuum leak, then you can try locating it with carb cleaner (or any other combustible in a spray can).

also it may be missing a seal ( probably the leak ) but that seal didn't come with the carburetor rebuild kit i got from rockauto is there a way to order a specific seal?

well, as far as the vacuum leak goes, like i said, use carb cleaner or something and search for it. do you have a vacuum diagram? if not, then you should probably get a copy of the FSM and a Haynes.
as for the seal you mentioned, you'll have to be more specific than that. if you can't describe with detail, then post a photo. generalities will get you nowhere, quickly. the best way to get help is to be specific.

TBH, i never liked the idea of spraying carb cleaner all over the engine bay. Seems that would only cause more vacuum leaks in the future by eating into rubber lines, not to mention electrical connectors and wires.
Are you sure it's a vacuum leak ? Usually if you have a vacuum leak the car would not idle that low without dying. Have you tried adjusting the idle mixture screw .and if your missing a seal you might want to find one or make one your self if it's a gasket that could be your problem right there . And if you don't want to use carb cleaner use starting fluid , propane , or even water mist

I'm sure it's a vacuum leak there whas a seal that whas missing below some removable plate below the carb but I put the carb back on anyway to make sure that whas the leak, I even sprayed it with starting fluid and it stopped the whistle for a few seconds so I'm either going to try and find a new seal at a parts store or get a custom seal kit and make my own
That removable plate has a built in gasket. It does not get any other gasket. Post a pic of the plastic spacer below the carb (both sides) and we can tell you if someone has messed with the built in gasket. Whatever you do, do not try to remove the built in gasket from the plastic spacer. It will ruin it.
