Using GSLSE upper manifold to lower Racing Beat Dellorto manifold on 4 port 13B

I am looking to do a motor swap for a friend this week and here is the scenario:

Car:

GSLSE

Motor Going in:

Street port 4 port 13B using old school housings and 12A(?) plates and S5 rotating assembly

The 4 port has a two piece Racing Beat Dellorto manifold on it. IIRC, the upper portion of that manifold will bolt to the lower portion of a SE manifold. If this is the case, shouldn't the upper portion of the GSLSE manifold also bolt to the lower portion of the Racing Beat manifold? This would essentially allow for a motor and lower manifold swap allowing the ability to retain the stock injection.

I don't have any of the parts, or car, near now to test fit, and Racing Beat is closed today to ask, but from what I can see online it appears as though this will work.

Just want some final insight from you gurus.

Will this work or is there something I am missing?

Also, if this will work, would the fuel delivery be enough to feed the street port 13B?

you're correct, i think. the early 4 port 13B lower intake should bolt right to the GSL-SE upper. i looked into this to do an EFI 12A back in the day.

the only problem, is that the GSL-SE injectors bolt to the block, so if you used a 12A center iron, there is no place to put injectors. i've seen a couple solutions, but it'll have to be something custom.

Ah, I forgot the fuel injectors are in the center iron. Well, the SP 13B is already built, and I don't remember what the center iron is, but one quick look will tell me if it's SE or not. If not, then it's going to be getting a Dellorto instead.

Thanks for the help guys!

Saw motor last night and it doesn't have a SE center iron, so it will be going with the Dellorto.

Why couldn't you drill holes somewhere along the intake and weld a bung to accept the injector/s... Extend the wires and fuel line. (if in fact there is even somewhere good enough to place them)

Also you wouldn't have 5th and 6th ports w/that lower intake and block. Wondering how and if that would effect drivability off the stock ECU....?

The swap was completed yesterday and just following up.

I suggested to him to add injector bungs and run the stock SE setup. This wouldn't be difficult since he is the president of our school's FSAE program and has a whole machine shop at his disposal. He is wanting to run the dellorto for now, and it's running great! Still need to fine tune it and the timing and it'll be set, but drove it all afternoon and it just keeps pulling. Great setup for sure.

We had to extend the throttle cable bracket on the dellorto to make the SE throttle cable work. Also, bypassing the "fuel pump relay" (it's actual name has escaped me at this time, but it allows the fuel pump to come on in accessory) is different than other 84-85. FIrst off, it's located under the cover at the passenger side floorboard, where the ECU is. Secondly, the jumper must go between the upper left and upper center connections(with the push release facing up).

85TIIDEVIL - I took the SE intake gasket and held it up to the T2 manifold I have, and they are crazy close! I see why you did that now.

He already has a Pineapple alt relocation kit I gave him with the 4 port engine years ago, and it will be going on soon. He just has to make a copy of the adjustment arm for me first

Tim - I agree. I have always been very pleased with dellortos. Now I just need to get my SA back on the road so I can enjoy it

*Heads to garage to work on SA*
