Upside down MSD?

So you cannot mount the MSD upside down, so I am told. How can I mount this? It is going inside the radiator shroud on the battery side panel. Is this what they mean by upside down, or is it literally upside down as in if I were to mount them under the top panel of the radiator shroud?

1 or 2, which should I go with? Currently have it on 2.

those are both mounting it vertically which shouldn't be a problem. they mean literally upside down becaust the circut board it bolted to the top of the case if it's upside down condensation will accumulate on the board and blow it. any other position and it shouldn't be an issue. I have a box I bought in 1997 and it's been in 78 cars and it's still running strong!

Hmm, that is an issue then. I have the 6AL on the inner radiator surround near the battery, and the 2 6A's under the top radiator surround, but they are mounting upside down.

How does water get into it? I would think you could just drill through the rivets and seal it with some epoxy or silicone, then bolt it on; then you have to worry about the high heat (I assume) with the MSD boxes.

Does the case have a "weep hole" in it? (Never seen one)

Nope, nowhere. I don't even see how water can get in. If you drill out the rivets that hold the bottom plate on then the plate just drops off.

condensation in the atmosphere that's how. don't do it if you live in a place that ever gets humid.

mounting them in the rad shroud(incoming air side), they'll definitely get wet driving it when it's raining.

i've never heard bout not mounting them upside down but i've heard you shouldnt put them anywhere in the engine bay due to the heat, i was actually thinking about doing mine in the pass storage bin that way it's away from all the elements of extreme under hood temps and water but that's just me idk

Mounted mine on the radiator shroud at first and then along the shock tower. Never had a problem with moisture that I could tell.

i installed mine on the driver's side and ran the wiring under the door sill.
since the battery, fuse panel, ignition system are all on the driver's side made it a no brainer for me imo.
