Ok.. well maybe not, but if I had the money, i'd love to be the first person to actually try it.

I wonder what his reserve is? Lookieme in the South Forum can get the crate engines for around $5500 and that's factory fresh....who knows if Manntis will cut a deal when he gets his 20+ shipment...

Like putting a V8 in a 7?!?!?!?!
I think the Renesis is one of the most bad ***, and tame rotarys ever built. Think about it,
Stock 250 HP, factory reliability, much better gas milege, and a **** load of potential.
If I had the money I would do a renisis swap in a heart beat.
Hmmmm Renesis......

Umm... how in the hell are you going to build a 12A to 250hp and use it in a street car, aside from turbocharging, which cuts down on life expectancy. If you guys are looking for Renesis crate engines, look up someone who races the Star Formula Mazda series. This coming year they will be swapping to the Renesis engine, rather than the old 13B. I've heard you can get the engines direct from Mazda for $4500, rather than the $5500 above. They say they expect to make 300hp at a 7k RPM redline with a rebuild period of three years between. Supposedly it uses the same ol' 13B style mounts, so it might be a relatively easy swap, if wiring doesn't scare ya too bad.

Seems to me that a RENESIS motor in a first gen would be sweet as hell, but there's a LOT involved. Much of it's 250 HP is achieved while using a shitload of sensors and emissions related crap. This is no easy changeover and it would be wiring hell. You would still have to buy the ECU and if not use stand alone fuel management. There's so much involved that it's not even worth it just for the 250HP IMO. You might as well do the highly coveted 20B swap instead if you want the power. Not to mention that you would probably need the 6 speed tranny found in the Miata and RX8.

I bet somebody out there is going to fab up a modular ECU for the Renesis that will run it with all those factory sensors functioning correctly. How else will the changeover take place? You know, for those Star Formula Mazda racers? It's all about reliability. If not them, then somebody else, because the Renesis has huge potential as a crate motor. Even I want one.

And just think...
Old 13b - 135hp stock w/o turbos
New (Renesis) 13b - 250hp stock w/o turbos
Now say what you will, but if your starting point almost *doubles* then whatever you manage to do with it from there (enlarge the ports, add turbos) can only bring it higher!
And think what a Renesis-style 20b would do!
Perhaps a Renesis-style 20b running a street port and a light turbo.... AJC13B and Jesus Padilla, eat your hearts out! We wanna see people like you do this!

It's all about style...just be thankful the raw material for rex projects is still so cheap...MX-5s are all over the place and boring in style, that's why you go with a 1st or 3rd gen RX-7....it's all about style...
