Talking Ultimate 80's Steering Wheel!!

Hey guys,

I finished restoring the steering wheel on the rex. I'm really close to being finished with the interior of the car. I decided that a lace up steering wheel cover would really complement the interior, and just give the whole car that 1985 feel I'm looking for. I painted the steering wheel and laced her up, and IMO it looks PURE 80's. Very cool. Here are some before and after pics of the steering wheel. Let me know what you think of it.

i think if you did a brown leather cover it would look nicer. the black cover kinda stands out and attracts too much attention instead of blending with the rest of the interior.

Alll you need now is K.I.T.T.

K.I.T.T is a car from the 80's series Knight Rider. Was a very good show in its hayday, I remember when it and Dukes of Hazzard were on primetime. Those were the good ole days.

Rice addition to your rex Glazedham, I like it!! I have been looking everywhere to get one of these covers in brown, to match my brown leather interior. I've come to the conclusion that they just aren't made anymore, brown being the unpopular color that it is (which is one of the reasons I kind of like it). If anyone knows where to get a brown leather steering wheel cover (but not that plastic **** they are selling at AutoZone-type stores, please let me know!

I remember watching Night Rider on TV with my Dad when I was really young. By the way, you got the words all wrong, its "the good old boys" .

Hah those steering wheels are horrible.. well they look sorta cool. They cut up your hands and what-not. My good friend had one on his old school Comet i think it was a `71 or so.. it was a nice dark green, with the white vynel top, redid the interior black and black and white upholtered rear bench seat of course the big fuzzy dice and the tiny chain link (chromed) steering wheel. Thing was so small you couldent even fit the club in it, and he got a ticket for it :[

for those with leather wrapped steering wheels.... if the leather is in bad shape, peel it off and you'll notice that it looks band new under the leather and it feels new.
