which turbo?

so i will be doing a turbo install soon on my 13b and was wondering what turbo would be good? i dont wanna go above stock boost levels at first but later on i most likely will want to go with more after tuning and what not. so what size/what turbo do you guys think i should get?? i dont wanna spend a ton on just the turbo so keep the price in mind. i was thinking about buying twin cosmo turbos from banzai for about 200 bucks but i dont know the specs yet? what do you guys think?? thx

ive heard of people hitting 18-19, but i think that is out of its effiency range.

Dont mess with the twins, you wont have the electronics to control them properly anyways.

The stock TII turbo (Hitachi T-18) is good to about 10-12 PSI on a stock port 13B.After that, the compressor starts to get beyond its effeciency range, and intake temps climb. This is easily remedied by making the T-18 into a hybrid,by adding a TO4 compressor housing and doing some work to the hotside to improve flow.
I run my S5 TO4B hybrid up to 14psi all day long on my streetported 13BT and it never complains or heats the intake up much.My stock T-18 at the same boost levels, and on only a stock port engine, was absolutely screaming! It sounded cool, but wouldnt have lasted long, and my intake temps were horrible after 1-2 runs through the gears.

The stocker or a hybrid gives you the easiest and cheapest way to turbo a 13B.Both will bolt right up,and you dont have to worry about AR,trim or manifold issues when selecting it....

You really need to go into more details, what model 13b? What modifications do you have done? How much do you want to spend for the complete setup? What ECU/carb you using? What fuel setup? Etc etc.

I know im going to be running a 60-1 on my s5 TII 13b.

The stock T-18 should be fine for now.
Having the higher N/A compression ratio means you will develop more power from less manifold pressure, provided you can keep detonation under control.Basically,I wouldnt recommend boost over 6-8psi on an N/A engine anyways,so your well within the stock T-18's abilities. Its a simple and cheap turbo/manifold.
Save your money for a future TII engine. The N/A's dont have port timing/layout thats designed for boost and the rotor housings have the restrictive splitters in the exhaust.Thats not to say you cant turbo them, but the TII block is a better foundation for boost.

I dont flip out anymore when people say they are going to boost their SE engine....or get 300HP from a 12A thats turbo'ed......or they wanna supercharge their S5 N/A engine.

Enough people have done all these things, and have proven it can be done.Sure, itll run and itll be fast........but check back with me in 3-4 years and Ill show you my (still) perfectly running TII engine with 75,000 some-odd miles on it,and they can show me the shed full of N/A cores that all died horribley after 10K miles!!!

Yea,I can be a dick!
