Traction
for some of you FBers running higher hp Rx-7's, whats have you guys done to acheive more traction off the launch? but without going widebody and stick a rediculus wide tire underneath the car. is there anyone that sells nice suspension set-ups.
this would be in a drag racing set-up btw. its my daily driver, but an occasional weekend track warrior.

well, i can afford alittle bit. i'm thinking $1000 range. i just really want to keep the car looking stockish. i plan on changing the rims and getting some ZG fender flares, but thats about it in body mods. i'm putting down around 180-190rwhp, and all i do are one wheel peels. i'm buying an LSD from a friend pretty soon. prolly early-mid janurary(stupid christmas shopping)

At the track,I got 1.8 second 60' times launching my old S4 TII setup.
About 250HP running through a stock LSD and 205/50-15's.
No burnout.
Hold at 4000RPMS,then drop clutch semi quickly.
Id get a bit of tirespin, but once 1st was over, itd hold pretty decent.
Never needed any special suspension stuff, just 175lb springs and Tokiko Blues,it never hopped or anything. A RB engine torque brace was a nice addition though.
Once I went with a S5 SP engine and TO4B,the 205's didnt stand a chance,so on went the 245/35-17's and widebody.Traction is still an issue in 1st,but if I dont slam 2nd,itll hold pretty well.....and I dont drag race anymore(on the track)...never did on the street.

i was wondering, how loose other peoples rx-7's felt. i know i need an alignment bad, and i think one of my front shocks might be blown. but other than those obvious things, my car seems really loose. its a base model GS. no PS or anything. idk, i've just heard people talking about auto Xing there cars and you'd need a pretty tight suspension to auto x. maybe i just need to redo my entire suspension. maybe its just too old

1. You should look into what the drag boys are doing here but for $1000 you can get poly bushings, billy waits rear lower control arm, consider drag coilovers from someone like QA1 and definately the tires.
2. Usual loose front end comes from the steering box, check all your ball joints etc first but the 1st gen manual box is reknown for wander steering, there are several posts on how to correct this, the best one I've found is by Directfreak at www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=75257

dont worry with a lsd, just lock your standard diff but definately getting both wheels turning is a good way to start
just think if you have a 200hp car without an lsd all 200 horses are trying to get through 1 tyre, lock the diff or get lsd and you have twice the traction. Also consider some good quality street tyres.
Get those things and youll notice a lot of difference

i appreciate that i suggest not locking the diff because it will buck and chirp on every turn. and if you try to take a turn at a decent speed it's very very easy to lose control. if all you did was drag race then it wouldn't be as bad, but i would just get a real lsd in there.
