I have Yokohama Avid T4s in the stock size on mine. Cost about $175 + $40 for mounting and balancing. Great grip in the wet, pretty damn good in the dry. Smooth riding and quiet. I only have about 1k miles on them so I can't speak for the treadwear, but the warranty is for 60k.

A warrany on tires eh?....how would they know if u just pulled a lot of crazy driving/burnouts but kept rotating the tires so they were all equal. What are the rules with the warranty? thanks, Ive just never heard of a warranty on tires.

I think he meant they were rated at 60000 miles, not warranted.

What are you guys talking about? The warranty works like this:

If you keep [perfect] records about rotating and inflating your tires and wear all the tires down to the wear markers before the "warranty," they'll prorate a replacement set.

That also all depends on where you buy them.

True. Given my experience, you have to have the rotation and most, if not all tire-wear-related work (alignment, for instance) done at either the shop where you bought the tires, or at an approved installer (if you bought them off an online place like TireRack), if you want the warranty to be valid. We just got new BFGoodrich Traction T/A meats for my family's '01 VW Passat, and Sears had them on sale for the same price as TireRack, but to have the treadwear warranty (60k, just like the T4's) be valid, we were required to have them check the alignment at installation (Sears doesn't charge you anything if it doesn't need it, but then they can at least certify the car is up to spec for the warranty on the tires).

On a more related note, I just got Yoko T4's (stock size) for my Rex as well. Just had them installed today, actually. So far, it seems like a great tire, especially for the price. I used to have mismatched tires (Firestone F560 rear, American Silver front), and the ones in front had busted stems, so whenever I went to inflate them, I couldn't seem to get more than about 18 pounds of pressure in them. Hence, when I went to the new tires, which are all inflated to 30 pounds, my steering became a heck of a lot easier to turn, especially at low speed (it used to be like driving a tank). They seem to have good traction, as well, although general consensus is that for the absolute best tire available for the stock rims are 205/60-13 or 195/60-13 Sumitomo HTR-200's. Unfortunately, these are a summer tire (though they do have some reviews on TireRack stating that they happen to get decent snow traction), and they're not typically carried in stock by most of the TireRack warehouses (I think the one in South Bend tends to have them, but they're backordered at the moment).

So, is there anyway to check the worn tires to see if they have been worn due to crazy burnouts? Could they tell if you just went out and beat the **** out of the tires but rotated them on your own, and also going in for the rotation in the store for the warranty? I have a feeling that if you hadnt been pulling burnouts within a certain amount of kms before going into the shop, wouldnt it just look like regular wear on the tires?
