Arrow Third Brake Light?

Hey Guys,

On my old GSL-SE, (back in 1994) - I had custom fitted Third Brake Light from an '89 300ZX into the middle of my Mazda 3 Piece rear spoiler.

It looked very good, and I still haven't seen anything similar that looks good. Although the '86 Vette light does look alright.

I am thinking of doing it again, but perhaps mounting it on the top of the hatch glass - (like the '89 300ZX) for a more beneficial location.

Do you guys have any pictures or ideas for a nice (preferably LED) 3rd Brake light for an FB?

Our FB's are so low compared to today's cars, that I am always worried the the @$$hole tailgating me in his SUV wont see me in time if I step on the brakes.

I remember seeing a picture of a high up 3rd brake light, it was in an old advert.
Let me try to find it again...

It would be interesting to see if one could be fabricated to be put on the inside of the rear glass up at the very top much like a corvette 3rd light but inside, only problem is it would require a custom housing and a fair bit of time finding the right adhesive/attachment as well as aiming everything.

This one looks awesome but I think would be a bit better if it could be fitted inside the glass instead of purched up top.

$10 with free shipping....hmmmmm
looks decent enough and if it can be stuck onto the glass or roof of the car without it falling that looks like it just might do the the truck, but I wonder how bad the glare will be unless its right up against the glass.
Reviews also say it could be brighter and bigger but I guess just even that little red strip might be the bit needed to keep a drivers attention.

I plan on welding in the 3rd brake light from an FC into my FB in the same location as on an FC (above brake lights and in middle of that flat area). Obviously, this requires painting but I think its gonna look stock when done. Now I just need to get all these other projects done so I can start working on the FB again. I plan on making a writeup on how I do it.

If you want SUVs like the ones around here to see you, you'd probably have to put it on top of a 3-ft mast.

Had one behind me the other day, and his headlights were higher than my roof.

Isn't that the damned truth! All I see in the Bay Area are these road queen trucks lifted high enough to be Monster Trucks and they never see a speck of dirt! I mean why the hell are you going to dump $20,000+ in your truck to lower your gas mileage, ruin your suspension faster, and overall make you unsafe to everyone around you if you never actually use it!

I like the one in my Z: zero bodyline impact, but highly functional.

Essentially invisible unless illuminated.

So I was at work today and standing around our parts waiting for some parts for a car when I peek over to the warranty bin where we drop all our defective parts and saw something interesting.

There was a Scion TC 3rd brake light that seems to have failed for whatever reason and was in the bin, thought of this thread an looked it over. I think it would work great! I mean its thin enough to be sleek, LED powered, and probably not that hard to fit near the top of the hatch or placed into a spoiler

My parts guy listed it around $180, but I am sure you could find a replacement much cheaper elsewhere.
