Sweet Smell ???

When I turn off my car I get a little bit of smoke coming off exhaust manifold. It has a really sweet smell to it. Is it anti-freeze?? I have checked all my lines where else could it be coming from if that is it. And how does it get on there I got that Stupid lil hot box thing-a-bob on there.

could one of your housings be cracked? Overheat your engine lately???... When the aluminum is overheated it warps creating a crack in the coolant jacket, it sucks. Thats what happened to me this weekend I swapped in a new used engine already though...

A less expensive alternative are the intake manifold O rings. If any of those fail, coolant could get into the engine, causing coolant loss and sweet smelling exhaust.

I was about to suggest O-Rings, but Moses beat me to it by quite some time, lol.

Maybe it's time to go to checker and order an intake gasket kit (comes with O-rings if you get it there, ten bucks!)

It's not too bad if the nest is removed. I can take my carb off in a minute with no cuts or scrapes.

radiator pressure testing while the engine is cold is useful. Any garage can do it for $30 - ????. Or you can buy your own pump, pump it up to 30 psia 14 psig, and look for leaks.

The reason I say cold engine is that when the engine is warm, the hot pressurized antifreeze will scald you. You can try warming the engine up with the radiator cap off, shut the engine off, then pump up the pressure and check for leaks. Tightening hose clamps is tricky, to loose and they leak, too tight and you crush the metal that the hose goes around.

If it's an 80 or earlier motor with the smog doo-dad on top of the intermediate housing. That uses coolant temp to do some wonderful smog related thing, that dealy could be leaking too.

Sweet is definately coolant related. I bet the radiator overflow tank is getting low.
