Suspension Banging

Got my hands dirty today.

Replaced the rear struts.

When I was driving the 84 FB I recently bought I could hear banging in the rear, like two hammers of Thor were impacting everytime I hit a bump or pothole.

Started with the rear struts. Changed them out. Drove it around the block, same banging.

There must be a bushing or other device between the suspension and some other point in the rear end that has worn away.

Any suggestions?

Check the stabilizer bar end links. The bushings love to rot and the bolt will deteriorate and cause them to fall apart. Also check the contr arm bushings and watts link for slop. Also ensure the fuel tank is secure and that the exhaust piping for the muffler is not hitting the axle housing over bumps.
