Sunroof Installation

Just an idea,

Anyone put a sunroof in a hardtop 7? how much did/would it cost? and how hard was it?

I'm guessing there are people out there who can do it..I just want to see if anyone has and how it went etc

Wouldn't mind putting a nice electric motorised one that slides all the way back...not the one where you just "pop" up...

Off Topic...

But could you post some more pics of your 7?
I am not a fan of two tone, but yours appears to be
really nice.

Yeah, show us some more pics. I really dig that paint job you've got. Also, which wheels are those on your 7?

Local yard here has two GS' that have had aftermarket sunroofs stuck in them. Manual not motorized. They're quite a bit smaller than a stock sunroof too. Looked like whoever did it did a good job. Still prefer the giant stock sunroof though

My 7 definetely isn't chopped! lol. Just the pic I would say makes it look like it, I had to shrink it to a decent size for my sig.

It's an 85 S3. 5spd manual. I actually think the two-tone silver is awesome. Don't see that many around here in oz like it. Colours are Tornado silver and Sunbeam silver I think according to maz.

I don't have any recent shots inside, but I'm going to get some for ya guys. It's clean az inside. Got it with 194,000km on it, now upto 240,000 and still going hard.

Here are some more pics of my 7.

Wheels are:

ROH 17" Auzzuro wheels
Michelin Rubber 205/40/17

i wish my car didn't have a sunroof...i would prefer the headroom and added rigidity of NOT having a hole in my roof.

Just as you can add a sunroof you can always have one taken out and metal welded in.

I actually inherited mike-p's old 80 that he put a sunroof in. You could swear it was stock, but when I took the interior out you could see the welds. I'll try and take some pics next time I get out to my friend's shop. He did a damn good job if you ask me.
Personally, I like the 1st gen sunroofs better than the 2nd gen moonroofs. The motors would always go out, and the mechanical ones are just fine, I think. Plus, they're removable.

Motorized sunroofs are just another thing to break IMO.
