Successful Swap!

I just got my '83 GSL running with a 13b from a second gen last night. I just wanted to thank everyone who had advice for me here on the forums, and for the massive archives here that made this possible for me.

She isn't driving yet, nor is the tune anywhere near to good, but it picks up and runs great. I need to remount my new fuel pump/reg system (I made nice little aluminum box), bleed my clutch a little more, plumb my power brakes and manage all the wires. And tune the carb, which I hope isn't going to be really painful. I also need a fuel pressure gauge for tuning. (weber 45 dcoe, side draft)

List of things I did/replaced.
12a -> 13b keeping 12a face plate to mount the engine. Easy to mod to account for the length difference /w modded tranny

stock tranny -> '91 tranny with stock tail housing.

RB twin pipe exhaust. I know nothing about this. I called, told them my engine and they said the would ship me the one I needed. She is a bit louder than before, but it sounds good and I have no complaints.

Antkins side draft manifold. I hate this manifold. Doesn't fit with carb well and taking off my air filter is a HUGE pain. Also, no stock vacuum ports and they left sprues and runners from the casting process in place. I don't know if that is standard or not. I would buy a down draft if someone had one cheap...

Weber 45 dcoe carb. Seems to work, we will see how tuning goes.

RB clutch disk

lightweight steel flywheel because the 91 engine was from an auto and I had the counterweight anyhow.

new clutch slave cylinder, I popped mine because I am an idiot.

FC oil cooler added, behive tossed

AC removed, didn't work anyhow

Motor mount modified to fit new engine

Purchased fuel injector block off plate from mazdatrix

Removed OMP, switching to premix. With the 12a faceplate I was leery of my OMP being too small among other concerns. Blockoff plates are easy to make!

What I would like to do in the future but I can drive without.
Electric fan on the radiator

Plumb the oil cooler lines better, and mount the oil cooler in a way I like more.

That is what I had in mind once I have the time.

Get my cruise control in again, I'll need to make a custom throttle lever for this.

Trim the excess from my wiring harness. There are more than a few things I am no longer using.

AC would be nice to have at some point along the road

Sound system was upgraded, but it was a $200 job. Next summer after I graduate I would like to look into some modest upgrades here.

Remove some minor rust, bondo a few tiny divots/rusted bits (after removing rust clearly) and them chrome and paint. Again, not till next year.

Rear needs some fabric to look the way I want, and the sun has burned the plastic in the rear.

I want louvers, and I think I can get to that this winter

TLDR: I learned a lot about RX7's this summer and realize now how much more there is to learn.

Congrats!

That DCOE will barely be enough for the 13B especially with the nice RB SP exhaust setup.
You can get by with it but it won't make max power at WOT.

What you really want is a Weber downdraft and intake like they sell on RB. You can find them
for sale pretty often. Or the old RE dual DCD setup which really rocks on a 13B.

So you would have gone with this I assume?
Weber Carb - 48 IDA, Down Draft for RX7 1986-1992 - Racing Beat In addition to the downdraft intake.

Pretty much that right there. I just sat down and laughed after I let the throttle drop. I had not thought I was going to finish this summer until I heard it catch.
