Question about Rats Nest and carb mods

I finally got my carb off but in the process I broke 2 of the solenoids on the rats nest. Im guessing I wont be able to find replacements? So Im thinking of just blocking it all off.

Ive done emissions removal on my previous cars and honestly other than removing the air pump and cat, Ive never seen that much of a difference in performance. But Ive always used more fuel and have had a slightly rougher idle. Not talking choppy but just a little more vibration than before. This TR7 with the 12A in it will be my daily driver once it gets going. I see a lot of carb mods involve removing some parts that sound like they would help day to day. Like the choke, and the solenoid to raise the idle when the ac is on. I also read about removing the butterfly in the intake manifold and blocking that off. I love the idea of more power, but I really want good street manors will stripping the Nikki and removing the rats nest give me any trouble in my day to day? In the winter we do hit 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit and in the summer we get 80-90 so I need it to act fairly normal in that type of weather.

Sometime in the last 6 weeks or so there was a thread concerning exactly what to keep to achieve that which you describe. I'll try to find it.

They were made that way for a reason. Each little doodad either helps with emissions or makes it easier to drive in some way. You CAN get it running really well and with way more power with a stock Nikki. It is just hard.

I believe that mazdatrix and black dragon have the solenoids for the rats nest. Ive never removed the rats nest and tried to run afterwards, mostly because california smog is a bitch, but also because after several years of reading rats nest removal threads, and watching those same owners reinstall it later, it just doesnt seen worth it to me.
