Strange problem...need help

Just when i was happy with the car...well, theres a new problem. When i put it in second and get it up to about 6000 rpms it stutters and makes this horrible shaking noise. It only seems to be in second, and the car seems to have alot less power, espeacially in the higher rpms. It really upsets me cause i just got the cold air intake working and it was running great... theres also been a small oil leak coming from the oil cooler, but the oils still full, and today the car wouldnt start till i moved the batery terminal a little. Im not sure what the problem is. can anybody provide insight? please dont tell me i need a rebuild...oh yeah the engine is an 85 gls-se engine which has 90000kms on it, and was rebuilt @ 30000 so it only really has 60000Kms on it. i think the shaking might have been the exhaust, but i have no idea why it wuld only be at high rmps in second....help?

alright here goes....

First of all celan that battery up and get new terminals.... and end any possible battery issues for the future.

This shaking noise at 6krpm..... The loss of power might just be an impression. Tell me if the vibration happens when it is in neutral and rev'd to 6k rpm.

If everything is fine when in neutral, then rest assured it has nothing to do with your engine.

If this only happens on the road..... Try going to 6 grand of every gear to see if it still happens....

I had a similar problem and it was my driveshaft u-joints.... but in my case the problem got worse and eventually even traveling at highyway speeds in 5th it had the crazy vibration and noise.

If it's only in second at exactly 6k maybe it has something to do with your tranny. Get the oil changed and examine the oil for any metal bits.

I change my tranny oil every six months and it comes out like the **** inside a etch-a-skectch. other wise Totally normal... and always clean off the drain plug magnet.
