Strange beeping?

In an '85 gsl-se.

Short, possibly relevant back story: Recently put in a S4 alt. The day after, the voltage gauge stopped working, but everything seemed to be working, car would start up and run no problem, even with the battery unplugged. Then today out of nowhere it started working again. I really don't like it when things fix themselves because the last time that happened, I blew an engine a few days latter.

Any way, coming home today, I started to hear a very quite beeping noise. The noise was more like a tone than a beep though. It would come on for about a second, then go away. It seems to happen randomly, though often when accelerating from a stop up through second gear, though it will happen at other times too. Like I said, it is very quite, I could barely hear it with the radio on and windows down, and it seems to be coming from the rear passenger side, though it's so quite it's hard to tell.

It's not coming from the dash, and none of the warning lights come on, and I know all my fluids are good, so it shouldn't be a warning.

I don't think it's a problem, but it is kind of annoying so any help would be great.

Oscillator? Unplug the little black box up behind the driver's side headlight to find out.

A bad oscillator connection is the cause of many if not most of these odd buzzing sounds, especially in wet weather. But why speculate? To find out, just unplug it, if the noise goes away, you know it's the oscillator. If it doesn't go away, you know it is one of the less common problems.
