Steering wheel removal.

I was trying to remove my steering wheel, but after I removed the nut it wouldn't come off. I have tried two different pullers, and they both started to bend the steering wheel. Is it just the nut that I need to remove? The manual doesn't say anything about any other part. It's an '84. Anyone got any ideas?

any RX7 wheel I pulled came loose by holding wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock position and alternately pull-push, rocking back and forth to work off the spline shaft...

whatever you do, be careful not to break the clip that holds the telescopic steering shaft.

Yeah, just grab it on both sides and push with one hand while pulling with the other. Flex it back and forth a couple of times and it will pop right off.

Be careful not to knock your teeth out when it comes off!

a diffrent way

another way that works very well for me is to use the a rubber mallet (i use my fist) and hit the out side of the wheel at 12oclock 3 oclock 6,9. the vibration will bring the wheel off and no chance of knocking your teeth out... it works!!!
