Steering wheel options

Alright,
So I've been looking at getting another steering wheel. So far I have one of those cheap Ebay wheels on my car because I really didn't care for the stock wheel. Now after giving it much thought I think I want to go with a stock wheel from a different year instead.
I have a 91' Vert, and I really like the wheel in it. So, that's one of my options.
Ultimately I want to put an RX8 wheel in, but I can't find one in my price range.
Any input is welcome.

The newer (airbag equipped) wheels always seemed quite bulky to me when crammed in the neat and tidy fb dash setup. Some of the older wheels were fairly neat though (rx2,3,4,repu).

$.02

I agree with you. The new airbag wheels don't really fit the character of these cars. Why not install a Momo Monte Carlo or similar from Sparco?

I honestly don't care for a lot of aftermarket wheels, I want something more 'stock'. I guess,

That's not too bad. What'd you do with your gauges at the bottom of your surround? That happened to catch my eye.

Still like 91' Vert Steering wheel better.

the engine i'm using is one i had been running in an 808 i used to have and i had the gauges in it. the gauges r temp(smaller one) and oil pressure. when i built the engine and put in the 808, i didn't bother to cover the hole for the temp sensor to keep paint out of it so i ended up breaking the sensor. so now i run a mechanical temp gauge with the probe in the back of the w/p housing. due to the size of the oil press gauge, that's really the only place i had to put them. and the oil press gauge is turned intentionally, like they do in race cars, so when driving the needle is pointed straight up.

I honestly like NRG better than MOMO. But, both are nice.
So, noone's put a later than 89 air bag equipped wheel in a FB? Guess I'll be the first.

The FC wheel will not fit an FB without modification. When I had my FC race car I had a factory wheel that was only on Japan models. I had to have the hub modified to install it on my REPU, then on my 323 GTX.

Momo monte carlo.

Simple, great feeling wheel. Not too flashy.

Perfect for a first gen

I have used Mazda wheels from R100 all the way up to FD on my First gens the only things to remember about the later wheels is dealing with the airbags and most of them have different electrical connections for the horn button I was able to use FC parts to modify the new wheels and use them though. One of my favorite is actually a J-Spec FD wheel nice size leather plus the wheel rim is fat for a good grip when hard cornering unlike the skinnier early wheels
