Use gear oil. 80-90 is fine.

While we're on the topic :

I want to make sure I cover all the fluids before driving my rex again... so:

Rear Differential (on an 84GS).. what fluid? how much?
And Trans fluid (I'd assume there is some, even for a standard)? (my heynes is 30 miles away at the moment)

Actually for all, a good synthetic would be the best choice. Along with a LSD additive if its a posi rear.

Amsoil synthetic 75-90W works great in steering boxes, manual transmissions, and non-LSD rearends. Good stuff, I give it my full recommendation.

The power steering fluid is the steering fluid. It circulates thru the box on PS cars.

Little white plastic cap witha small pinhole in it. Get the socket wrench and extension and remove it.

Oh, it's probablly covered in dirt oil and filth so you might want to hose the steering box down first.

Don't the power steering boxes have a little remote reservoir like a brake fluid reservoir that you fill?

Behind the PS pump is a black cap. The pump is located above your AC compressor. It uses ATF as power steering fluid BTW. Ford compatable fluid, cant remember off hand what the actual designation is. Look in teh manual.

My god... back from the DEAD!

I started reading until I hit my post... Considering I replaced my Diff fluid with 1.2L of Synthetic 75w90 and bought 2qt of RedLine MT-90 for the trans LAST YEAR, I looked at the post dates!

from April 03 to March 04... almost a whole year. Wow NutJob, you must have had to search hard for this one! Congrats, it proves you search!
