when i go to start my car it sometimes dosnt start,,it just clicks and sounds like i have a died battery............new battery and alt puts out good amp.........does this sound like a starter going out...after a few trys of the key then it starts..i thought starters went out without warning but it is slowly getting more and more...started with 1 click then 2 and now im at about 4 and 5 before it starts.........
i stopped driving my car with the worry that i will come outside and it wont start at all should i be like this?? or is this just somthing i should deal with?

The most common problems are, as already stated, major electrical connections. If possible replace the factory aluminum wiring with copper. I'm not certain if there are kits out there for this or not. I believe almost any major parts store will have some sort of mains power kits available. Another thing most often neglected is the starter solenoid. This sits on the start itself and often gets all sorts of lovely gunky stuff on it from oil dripping onto the transmission and thence to the starter and solenoid. Sometimes this can be cleaned up and sometimes it's not worth it. If you can buy just the solenoid you might try that after getting your electrical connections cleaned up.
Thats what my Tracker did. and yes, i drove a tracker, and it was awesome.
it ended up being the starter going out, i replaced everything around it before figuring it out. Sometimes it would click, sometimes it wouldnt, sometimes it would almost start then stop.
You may also want to check your solenoid.

Rusty, it's not just the end connections, but the entire battery cable wire that can play tricks. I've recently bought some 4 gauge welding wire per a suggestion on this forum. It has very minimal resistance and 100% copper. I'll be replacing mine in the next few weeks due to a noticable voltage drop when I turn on my headlights at nite. This will be my starting point as it has worked for me in the past; especially for starter-type problems.
