SPY PHOTOS! new carb kit that promises 40+mpg!!

my buddy had been doing some testing with a new carb kit that promises 40+mpg!! its still in the test stage but they will be released to the public shortly. its on a few different cars and all 4 are reporting better than 40 mpg i never thought it would happen , a rotary that gets great gas mileage.

i got to drive my buddies car that has the carb currently and i must say it drove real nice, good low end, and driveability was better than stock! considering its a one barrel carb, it had descent power. i would say the power felt like the stock carb, but with no secondarys..

the kit uses a 1bbl weber that rob has modified and tuned for optimum driveability and coupled it to the 12A with an adapter to fit the stock manifold to keep the cost of the kit down i would assume. the carb even has a choke you can hook up!
well, here are the pics

Sweet deal! I love when people find out how to make things better especially for our cars. You sound like you hit "engineering status" with this great news.

Seen this in person, GREAT item to have soon once its out for sale. In regards to what the guy above me said about FRAM.. that's not true. Too many people give FRAM a bad rep but it really isn't bad at all and this setup runs great.

Lol at the Fram comment, I bet he has never even used a fram.

Looks real cool, but it obviously isn't setup for power then eh?

Not a power setup at all, but many people that keep their FB's stock just to enjoy driving them as is would take full advantage of a setup like this. You can still leave all the emissions on as well to pass smog.

What's the guesstimate on power output or maybe 0-60? When fuel goes back up, 40mpg would be nice.

im sure there will be a dyno sheet posted once the carb kit is released, but the pocketbook is where this carb kit hits home. here in california we drive ALOT so to save a few hundred dollars a month on gas is a dream come true.

Like the look, clean and simple. Bottom line, it's a smaller carb, sooo = less fuel. I would be the 3 barrel off a 80 1.5l civic would work awesome, very tiny primary for a smooth idle.

thats like trying to get a dodge viper to have great gas mileage.... my question is why? i would much rather have a kit that makes another 100 hp and only gives me 9 mpg.

A stock 12A is only around 100 hp or so depending on the year and Weber 2 barrel carbs can typically make 200 hp or more. With only 1 barrel and half the horsepower I don't see how this would necessarily be any slower than stock. It depends on his setup. You can get 13B's into the very low 30's on the highway with good tuning. I'd like to see 40 from this but I'd consider mid 30's to be successful.

But we all know whats going to happen, they'll be a couple of guys out there that'll try to get that 40mpg but still have a heavy foot, and complain about it and ruin the whole project most likely.

I can get about 30mpg on a my streetport 12a with FI on the highway. But 40 MPG would really be choking it, or running it extremely lean.

Now if they could just add another set of barrels for when you needed some power. Oh wait, that would be a Nikki, wouldn't it? (just kidding)

Better gas mileage would be nice, but I'm not one who would be willing to sacrifice power to get it. Maybe if gas hits 8 bucks a gallon or so...
