which springs lower the most

I am not looking to tuck the wheels under the fender but I want the tire really close to the fender.
I think that would look really good.

RB claims 1 inch all around
eibach claims 1 in front and .8 in back
what about ground control those are ajustable right.
that might work. who has ground control

again I want the tire right next to the fender.

Ground control offers adjustable FRONT coil-over spring perches that switch you over to a universal 2.5" coil. Spring rates for these are available from 175# to 700#. They also offer a rear trimable spring from Eibach at 175#, that would offer a custom PERMANENT non-adjustable ride height.

I do not know anyone outside of IT racing that runs any of these setups.

Do these spring rates seem WAY to high for the street or is that just me?

Hey... I've just ordered a set of GC coilovers for the front of mine.. I'll let you know how it works out when I ever get them.

I've heard they they are pretty stiff for the street (#350 is what I ordered) but you can get about whatever spring rates you want. And they are adjustable for ride height, so lowering is totally up to you.

As for the rear, I've got a lead on a company that makes threaded spring perches for the rear of the 1st gens also.. I haven't seen them myself, but hear from a coupel people who use them that they work pretty good. The threaded collar is supposedly at the top, so it isn't sprng weight like the GC's. The company name is ISC racing,#941-324-2742. I still need to call and get more info myself, but I thought I'd pass on the info....

keep your stock springs... they're probably so sagged that lowering springs will actually raise the car up a bit.

you don't want to lower more than about 3/4"-1" because the front suspension bottoms out easier, and the rear suspension binds easier - this totally kills your handling as well as your front struts and your oil cooler! (my oil cooler was dented from hitting bumps )

Make sure to get upgraded shocks when you do your springs. Your car will handle like **** if you don't. I agree with Peejay - if you're not going to a coil-over setup and changing your rear suspension, etc, you don't want to lower any more than an inch. Stiffening up your suspension is more important than lowering it, if handling is what you want. And it's true, most 'lowering' springs will likely be the same or higher than what you have now. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Remember, this isn't a riceboy Honda you're dealin with, lowering an RX7 like crazy will result in all kinds of bad things. RB knows their ****, and if there was any benefit from lowering more than an inch you can bet they would have a kit for it.

If you want to lower more than 1 inch and maintain good handling, there are a number of ways to do it, but they're all more expensive than simple springs/shocks.

If you're looking for springs, the Tokico site has them for $75 (all 4). I read a post a few weeks ago that said they were sold out - well, they're not (at least earlier today they had stock)- I bought 4 today at the above price. If you need springs, you'll never do better than this.

I was told I've bought the last set of Tokico's today. Are they pulling my leg? Last time I called I was told that they were discontinued and all sold out. ANyways, how's the Tokico shocks? Anyone got theirs yet?

I'm running Tokico HP's and Tokico springs all around. They raised the car about an inch in the rear and 1/2 an inch in the front. The car handles like a gocart now. I love it. The OE front struts had no rebound left in them at all, and the springs were sagged hardcore. If anyone's running around on the OE suspension, you'll notice worlds of difference just going to new stock parts, much less new performance parts.

I just spoke to the lady at the desk - the last set went out this morning. Apparently they found a few additional sets when they did their inventory - I was hoping they had a few more because I know a lot of you guys are looking for them - sorry to report the bad news

Yea...I luckily got that last set of springs. I read on a post somewhere yesterday that they still had some in stock so I called Tokico early this morning to grab a set. I'm also planning to get a set of Tokico Hp's to complete my suspension upgrade.

Thx Northern7 for the info bout the springs. I was pretty bummed out the first time they said they were sold out of the springs. Finally got a set this time. B.t.w. how's the ride on those springs? I was told the spring rate is front=194 rear=111 isn't the front kinda stiff?
