Sporty steering wheels. who has them who makes them..
I got my steering wheel from O.G. Racing, but pretty much any "tuner" shop or mail order place can get it for you.... The leather shift boot is an aftermarket one for a Mazda Miata... I removed the old boot, and modified the new one with a couple of metal eyelets to grab the tabs on the shifter plate... Then I used "shoe goo" to cement it underneath... I'll take a close up pic tonight for you....

Like I said, it's made for a Miata, but you can make it work...

ditto
Is this true....and frankly this kinda scares me....i've heard of some people that have installed aftermarket sterring wheels on thier FB's and on occasion the wheel would lock up on them while they were driving (usually at a slow speed but still that would scare the **** out of me if i was driving and the wheel locked)...is this true...i really want to get an aftermarket wheel but i have seen some threads on this problem before and if this is a common thing then i will just stick to the stock wheel instead......
The only reason a steering wheel would lock up is if the collapsible steering column was damaged during the removal of the old wheel. If you don't use a wheel puller, you will break the little plastic tabs that keep the steering column extended. If that happens, the column will slide up and down along the shaft and will hit against the combination switch below. That will cause the wheel to lock up...
BTW.. My steering locks up occasionally for the above listed reason.. Learning comes at a price. LOL.

Worse are the thankfully rare ones with two gauges. Fuel and Speed.
Oil Temp, oil pressure, and Water temp to be located on the A pillar.
A/F Ratio where the clock used to be.
Intake Vacuum, EGT, and Fuel pressure under the radio.
That's my ideal setup.

unforuntately, I found it really hard to center the wheel because of the deadspot in fb steering so actually it's a teeny bit off. anyone have good tips for dead on centering? also, it took a while to hook the horn up but i finally got it working.

I got the same wheel, but in red (it was on clearance for $25). To center the box I do this. I use a tape measure to measure the distance from the center of the pitman arm at the box to the center of the tierod center of the inner tierod of the pass side tierod. Then do the same for the center of the idler arm to the center of the inner tierod end on the drivers side. So you end up with an x. When these two measurements are identical, you have "squared" the steering linkage and the box is at neutral. Works for me.
Ok about the shift boot I talked to the guy at Redline goods about it (since he makes a crap load of leather shift boots) and I sent out the mold to yesterday for him to make some for our cars he has them for the 2nd and 3rd gen cars but not 1st. so it will take a couple of weeks till he can get the finished product ready to sell to the public. They can come in a lot of different colors when he gets it done, and we will find a way to make it mount up to the 7's that have broken plastic rods to hold the stock rubber boot on, so anyone can put them on.
