missing at high RPM?

check my signature for the specs of my car. well, i was on the highway, i floored it through 1st gear, it was great. i floored it through 2nd gear, it was great. 3rd gear was great. but in fourth gear when i got up to about 5k rpm, it started missing, and it slowed way down. it ran fine after that.....and a minute before that, it went through fourth fine. and it ran fine after that....so i dont know.

I'll take fuel filter for $100.00 Bob!

Or Jeapordy style:

"what are the symptoms of a clogged fuel filter".

Kentetsu wins the square!

(the symptoms that you describe are classic for a fuel filter that's clogged and preventing the carb float bowls from staying filled with fuel - as you tromp on the gas pedal through 4 gears, the fuel pump can't keep up pushing enough gas to the carb to keep it from starving, thus you end up 'topping-out' in 5th gear with what appears to be missing.)

BTW, when it 'misses', it's due to fuel starvation, aka leaning - that's REALLY, REALLY bad for your engine - don't do that anymore. HTH,

your sig doesn't say wut kind of fuel pump your running. if you say a stock gsl fuel pump. id change that and the filter.

that used to happen to me all the time. i installed one of those 150 dollar electroic fuel pressure gauges, and i found out why. at the top of 3rd gear i was only running around 1 psi. .. i changed to a 20 psi @ 180 gallon fuel pump. with 1/2 fuel lines, and never had the problem return. a rock solid 3psi threw every gear, no matter wut.

carl.
