I'm pretty sure I've seen about 8 million of those spoilers on the back of 3rd gen camaros...... That spoiler looks IDENTICAL. and nothing says you couldn't cut a camaro spoiler, epoxy it back together and make it work.

Or just get rid of it and leave the car w/ no spoiler ....I think it looks A LOT better without it....Just IMO

and being that those side vents came out of a late 70,s trans-am i owuld say you are probably right about it being a camaro/trans- am thing

SON OF A BITCH!!!1 That was my idea. Cant a guy have any truly original ideas anymore? Not flaming you, as you didnt do it. Just kinda erked off as now I know I wont be the only one.... BTW, if it came from a late 70's TA it has been cut down and the ends have also been modified. It is not a bolt on thing AT ALL. I am going to be modifying my 78 TA spolier quite a bit to get it to mount right.

Also on a side note at least I know it looks good. Kinda saves the wondering about it.

I personally like it...sets the car apart....those fender vents I like too, and actually thay could have come from ANY 2nd Gen firebird(70-81). Thanks for the help,

Mary

No worries, Mary,

I personally am not a big fan of GM products, so I was really working those last couple of brain cells in my head to remember what years it came with that style vents and all, but it just looked 70's GMish for lack of better words.

I personally think it makes an interesteing vent system. I used the hood vents off of a 1975 celica in the same place on one of my first sevens about 1986 or so IIRC, and a lot of "pure" mazda freaks reamed me for that, I have always thought that car mods are an expression of an owners individual tasts and talents (weather DIY or paid for) so it doesn't bother me to see "different" mods done.

that poor car hadnt had a bath...those pics are from the day after we dragged it home(plus the krylon special is coming off everywhere!)...it had been sitting for ten years in a garage because they didnt get it timed when they replaced the oil chain....right now it is sitting the garage w/o an engine and is clean inside and out. Waiting on money for clutch etc...I need to rebuild it because the coolant seals are going out, but I am going to get it runnign and drive it for a while and then worry about the engine...maye build up a 13b or something while I am driving it....either way, I think I will enjoy this car!(especially since it was free!)

If the spoiler is fiberglas, just fix it! It's relatively easy. that's what I did with the three-piece spoiler that I found in the wrecking yard. Not only did it have a crack at both corners, but there was a hole in the upper surface.
Fiberglas is messy, but cheap.

The hole on top seems to be a pretty easy patch job, but the crack on the back makes the left side of the crack sit a little lower than the right...

Correct on the 2nd gen vents. My friend has them on his '79 T/A WS6. Only thing different is that they are lower on in the T/A near the rocker panels on the fenders. But I do think that the spoiler is a 3rd gen, not a 2nd gen.

I think that ya'll are thinking of 2nd gen camaros for the spoiler...but even those are not quite right...have one in my garage...the 3rd gens are the ones from the 80's and all I've seen are a slight lip(more like on a gn) or the Z28 IROC spoiler that looks like a 93 Mustang Cobra spoiler...maybe I'm wrong.

Then ya hafta do a little adjusting as you repair. there's also nothing that says you can't bolt a piece of strapping to the back side to hold every thing straight while you fiberglass the crack up. Unbolt when dry, then fill the bolt holes, or even fiberglass the strap in as reinforcement.
