keyless entry problem

installed power locks and keyles entry from kickeyride.com and the locks work great, but not the clicker. i cant get more than two feet from the antenna or it wont work.
i tried both clickers so i dont think its the battery of the remotes. any ideas? sent email and have gotten no response.
if the distance was 20 feet or so id be happy, other than that problem the kit is awesome. the actuators come with a cool wiring harness, the only wire i provided was the one to the hatch popper in the back. even had screws too

I installed mine a month ago, works great. I just have the antenna rolled up (like it came out of the box) jammed up behind the radio center section of the car.
I'm surprised at the lack of tech support, they've always emailed me back within a day and were super.
I know this isn't much help..try to contact them again, or try another location for the antenna, moving it as high as possible in the car.

I hope you got yours working, Gamble- not trying to highjack your post, but I've got a question for all of you. I bought my RX salvage and I don't have keys for any of the locks on the car (not running yet.) If I were to purchase an ignition lock cylinder and switch set, and then put one of Executive's (or another brand's) kits on the other three locks, couldn't I just bypass the door/hatch keys alltogether? It seems to make sense; just making sure I'm not overlooking anything.

Its possible it could be the batteries, sometimes those things sit around for a long time... I have seen it a few times, when I was doing car stereo/security.

Come to think of it, ONE of my keyless remotes did the same thing right out of the box. A trip to the shack and a new battery fixed it. Gamble, it's worth a try.

adamatism take your passenger side door apart take out the key cylinder. there is a number on the cylinder take it to a reputable locksmith they be able to make you a key from that number. that will fit all the locks. cheaper than a ne ignition switch.

Sorry to bump an old dead thread but I thought I'd search before making a post. I'm looking to shave my door/hatch locks and run a keyless entry alarm. I want to do this because of the obvious lack of security with the factory key-system and I plan to invest a lot in my RX in the near future.

I know of a few alarms that had caught my eye--but as far as power locks--what alternatives do I have? Is this kickeyride.com reputable? Is there something for power windows aswell?

TIA

make sure the antenna is away from all the other wires/try to keep the antenna away from metal and wires and u can also extend it a little no more than 10 inches

Have you checked to make sure the antenna is plugged into the control module?

I have the Clarion RK-1 in my winter beater and I can lock/unlock and start the car from a block or more away depending on weather and if there are any obstructions..

Kickyride is reputable - I've bought three alarms from him with no trouble. One was a remote start. The Omega research brand that he sells has been around a long time - they make K9, among others. Mike (kickyride) has been on the FB/SA22C email list ofr some time, and has been helpful more than a few times.
As far as power locks, you can get the door lock actuators (motors) from Kickyride. They're a universal add-on; it just takes a little ingenuity to make them work. I've installed those motors on all kinds of cars - they'll work on pretty much anything that has a rod from the door latch to the inside lock ****.

Speaking of keyless entry kits, anyone tried the kit offered by Victoria British? I have been considering adding this to both my trucks, along with the 7.
I wonder if their kit is any good, or is just another cheapo hunka junk.

Thanks, guess I will look elsewhere. Alarm system is not really needed for my old beater truck, cause there ain't nothing worth stealing inside it, and no one but me knows how to start the dern thing.

yea but seriously the clicker under the chin works, you can double your distance, turns your head into an antenna.

Hey TurboSE;
Speaking of bringing back a Old Thread i.e. 1 Month ago!

I also purchased the Keyless Door Lock System from VB and I also purchased the VIA-81262 add on Alarm System from VPA International that is supposed to interface with any Existing Factory or Aftermarket Keyless Entry System i.e. Piggyback System.
Both units are still sitting in there Boxes waiting for 2 months for me to install them.
I've done a Shitload of wiring to this 84GSL so I know what I'm doing in that area, to include adding some of the Painless Wiring Kits.

Since it Reads Here like you have the Knowledge of the How-To's in this Area is there anything I should be aware of before I finally get off my *** and install these systems????

The Instructions from VPA Intl are great.=(Alarm System)

The Instructions that came from Victoria British SUCK and are Unreadable.=(Door Lock System)

To bad you don't live here in Oregon or I would be on your doorstep with cash in hand and let you tackle this one.

Like I stated above I know how all the wiring goes in all 1st Gens. After owning 6 of em I'd Better.
Any input would be greatful and I can finaly stop looking at these Boxes and get the Damn things hooked up!!!!
