Spark Plugs Quick to Foul?
Replaced my plugs after they weren't giving a good spark and causing a poor idle, that was two weeks ago, now I'm having the same symptoms and the plugs have fouled quite quickly. Any ideas?

I replaced my spark plugs because they haven't been replaced in a while and decided it was time. Ran better then ever for about two weeks like you then my carburetor started to go bad and still is bad. The carburetor or something is causing too much fuel to get to my engine, which will kill your plugs over time. So I'd check if your getting too much fuel. I'm always in a race with time because of school and work, so if you have a lot of time, spend it asking question on the forums here and checking out foxed.ca or your manual. There's a lot of awesome guys on here that eat, sleep and breathe rotary lol

Do an ignition upgrade. A MSD on mine fixed so many problems, hard start, idle, overall responsiveness. There's plenty of threads floating around for DFLIS (or something like that...?) if you don't want to spend over $150 on a MSD. Make sure timing is good. Make sure fuel pressure is good. A nikki requires fuel pressure to be pretty low. 2.5 I think.

The car has a 48IDA, and dual MSD 6AL ignition boxes, along with their booster coils. Ill post pics of the plugs tomorrow as its getting to the point where it is only idling around 500rpm and its starting to sound really REALLY funny. Much quieter and most of the noise coming from the *** end, instead of a 40/60% split.
Could it be something with the carb?

you should check that the ignition is actually working, and then start tuning the carb. my MSD died for no reason

I'll take a look, but it was a gradual worsening, however, there was an electrical gremlin where my battery died, and then magically lived again after I put a different battery in to just get the windows up.

Fouled plugs mean one of two issues; too much fuel or not enough spark to burn the fuel thats
provided. So if you have had some electrical issues in the recent past I wouldn't jump on the
carb tuning wagon just yet. I suspect something is preventing good spark. It may be a bad
ground or a short or some other hard to track down issue.
My advice is to get a DVM and start measuring voltage drops and see what you see.

Checked the MSD, everything is good. Even plugs are good, they're throwing good spark. Has to be the carb, the car used to reak of gasoline when it sat, now it no longer smells. The car runs better if the accelerator pump does its thing, but better is the key word here.
