you can always buy a rebuilt from any parts house but they always seem to **** out, then again you have the warranty if you want to continue swapping starters when it dies. my personal suggestion is to find an auto electric shop and have them rebuild it or buy a rebuilt starter from them. you know it was done properly and not by some shitty production line in bangcockina

I will send you a starter for $30 + shipping. Its one that I pulled from a junk yard... I had it in the car to test. I will test it again before I ship it.

Pull the case off and see how bad it is. A rebuld is not really hard to do if you can get the parts.

LOL, I had to do this on my 79" when the fuel pump started crapping out on it. I would be driving along and all sudden the car would die. So I would have jack it up a bit, Break out a large crescent wrench and bang the crap out of that little plate that the pump sits on. I would hear it start pumping and would be on my way, heh.

it ended up that my solenoid was bad, but a whole new starter with solenoid was 50 and the solenoid only was 7 less. went in fine and starts like a charm

Why are starters for these cars so inexpensive? As I recall I only paid about $80.00 for a new one from the MAZDA dealer, without a core, and Mazda is not in the habit of giving away parts. Starters for other import cars usually run well over $100, don't they? (but maybe I'm remembering my Volvo days). Does Mazda use this starter for everything they ever manufactured?

I got one for $15 at the Pick 'n Pull last summer. I've rebuilt starters for other cars with just new oilite bushings and new brushes.
