So I upped the boost on my car
Man what a diffrence 13-15psi is from 9-11! I'm guessing the turbo is in more of it's efficiency range at the higher level. But to test it out the first time I went to a new stretch of road and was at 4k in 3rd gear at a steady state and I floored it... Man, what a difference! As it hit 5k the tires broke loose and the rear stepped out and I hit rev limiter (8100 at the moment) That had to look funny to the dude raking the leaves in his yard lol.
To all of you who are thinking about doing a turbo swap I say DO IT!

Airflow is my life
Doesnt that depend on the turbo itself and how its setup? I guess every combo will have a different sweet spot. Sounds like fun, just dont let it get away from you.

Man that sounds awesome man. I just got my turbo setup on the street(sort of), but i've only driven it around my neighborhood, heh, and only boosted to like 2 lbs. The BOV scared the hell out of me, even at 2psi. I cant wait till i'm pushing 14lbs, it's gonna be great!

Nothing like the sound of a boosted rotor I did the conversion in my s2 a few months ago now, s4 13bt, mtx8, front mounted, still running it in so its only running 5-6psi, and has a rev cut at 4500rpm, but it still smokes rubber into 3rd
cheers,
heb.

BTW - Jeez Setzep, you're running a tiny little turbo and tiny little ports. I see your intake ports go in through the side housings instead of the rotor housings like they are supposed to.

Bigger turbos don't have to spin as fast, even for more boost/flow, and they tend to be built much stouter as well. So you shut the throttle and the turbo surges a bit and slows down.
I'd much rather hear compressor surge than some prissy BOV.

yeh good luck running 30psi in a rotor lol
and sometimes blowoff valves can be necessary for the life of your turbo.. but not to much at higher range, maybe a bypass valve..

If you dont like the sound, just run the BOV as a bypass like I did with my Blitz.
Not only does it muffle most of the sound, but with the BOV being open under vacuum, gives the engine a bypass around the restrictive turbo compressor. This can help with low RPM spoolup and revs.Plus the suction in the intake before the turbo helps to drain the pressurized air.
