smell w/o cats

greetings,

i am looking for advice from those of you running cars w/o cats and more specifically who have the racing beat exhaust system.

my cats/muffler need replacing so i am thinking upgrade. no emission testing in quebec but i do live in the big city (montreal). i've searched the site -lots of thumbs up regarding power/performance but how about stink?

i've got an 84 with 12a.

thanks
norman

Rotaries WITH cats stink.

Rotaries without cats stink even more. Plenty of the gasoline in your hair/clothes smell.

Nothing can REALLY be done about it. It's the price of owning a rotary.

It's okay though, you get used to it.

You do kinda get used to it. It's not to bad unless you run the car in the garage for long periods. Driving around town I never notice, but the poor people following me on long drives, they notice

It must be pretty bad, because even with my cat on, it still smells - not that bad of a smell though, not as potent as pure gasoline.

Thumbs up

I can't really comment on the smell. My exhaust is open with not cats on my '83 and it doesn't stink. It just smells like any other exhaust of a car. In any case I would do it because the rotary needs to breath. If you can hadle the noise it produces then go for it.
