slight mods for 12a

Whats the best mild carb upgrade for a 85 12a with exhaust, intake, and stockports? Should I even need one? I know I could search but I want to get *recent opinions on this. Picking up a near mint 85 for 800 this weekend I'm so happy

How much hp at the flywheel do you think it would have, 120ish?

Mikuni 44Phh would be the way I would go...

you can also consider a Sterling or Yaw modded stock carb.

how would a 44phh be on a 6 port 13b? or in that case would a 4bbl holley be a better choice?
sorry for the hijack

Full racing beat exhaust, Weber 48dcoe, Streetport it, Carter FP, holley FPR, and if your rich dream of turboing it. (very streetable probally 200hp with a big streetport)

Or: Bridgeport, 3" exhaust, weber 48IDA (not streetable power = 6000+ rpms)
or: Buy a T-II Engine and mod it and get everything you need to drop it in while you drive your car. (very streetable, expensive)

A mikuni 44phh is too small on a 6port 13b if you ask me, I would probally go for the holley or a weber.

I was really impressed with how smooth the power comes on and how well the carb actually maintains a decent (for a carb) AFR.

Nice flat torque curve.

look into a sterling carb, save money on manifold, stock-like appearance

I have more than this at the wheels from my 12A using a weber IDA.

the car is very streetable..

Bridges can be streetable too... with the proper porting and tuning.

for a stock port 12A i am still beside the Mikuni....

however, there is no way in hell a single 44phh would keep up with my present 12A

the 85 runs perfect and I already have a quick turbo second gen so I'm just going for something that can get into traffic alright but not spend alot of money on. I can get dual 44 deltoris off a friend of mine for $300, too big? That involves swapping the manifold right? I just want a stock carb upgrade I guess, not needing to change the intake manifold.

You don't need dual dellortos. Thats WAY too much for a stockport 12A. One 44 dellorto would be perfect for the 12A though. But If I was you, I would go with a sterling or yaw modded nikki carb. Best bang for the buck, and come fully tuned out of the box. Minor adjustments may be nessesary, but it would basically be a direct bolt on, after you get a bigger fuel pump and pressure regulator. Stock fuel pump won't feed anything bigger than the stock carb, and even then it has a hard time keeping up sometimes.
