water temperature sensor, tells your guage in your dash what temperature your car's running at.

Why do you want to disconnect it?

but i got another temperature sensor on the engine block which is to my dash (a little one, next to oil presure sensor), if i disconnect this one, water temp in the dash won't work~
i tried to disconnect the one on the pump, gauge still work

i am looking for a place where i can put one more temp sensor for electronic fan controller

No, what your thinking of is under teh oil filter. That one is only one wire. I just had to jerry-rig mine up not too long ago. Took me a while to figure it out tho!

Reaction, is your car a SE? In the fuel injection system, the sensor lets the ECU know the tempature of the engine, so it can activate fast idle, a richer air/fuel mixture and other things needed when the enigne is cold. On the second gens, it also controls fuel pressure.

If you have a 12a, then I have no idea what it does. Disconnectit and see if the thing halls flat on its face. On a FC Fuel Injecton system once the sensor is disconnected the car is IMPOSSIBLE to start. But I dont think that would happen on a carb. Unplug it and tell us!

Jeff is correct. That is the heat sensor for the magnetic choke release. The stock temp sensor is located under the oil filter.

I've removed that thing and replaced it with the temp sensor for my Autometer water temp gauge, pennies and quaters hold my choke now. That's some custom **** right there.

I have a malfunctioning magnetic choke holder, so a penny works for me.
