Question Sa vs FB trans questions

So long story short I am replacing my SA trans with a FB one, (partially accidentally but that's besides the point) But I have some questions.

First things first sensors/switches, the SA trans has 3 sensors on it (first pic below circled in red) meanwhile the FB only has 2 (second pic below circled in red), the wiring harness expects 3 sensors so which one do I not plug in/what should I do?

Second thing second shifter I am missing the piece of trim around the shifter anyway so instead of modifying the transmission to make the shifter to come 4(ish) inches forward would it be easier to modify the shifter plate on the car? I am planning on installing a miata short throw shifter kit for the shift lever and am not keeping the stock SA one as part of this as I don't think the SA shifter would be comfortable to shift 4 inches closer to me.

any advice would be appreciated particularly on the sensors.thanks.

You can find the wiring diagrams here to understand the sensors and what is needed: Foxed.ca

The SA shifter will not fit the FB trans.

You have also found that the shift on the FB sits back further and will not work because it hits the plastic dash surround. Search this forum and you will find the process to shorten the tailshaft on the FB trans.

not sure about all the sensors. i only used the one that operates the backup lights. there's 2 ways of solving the shifter position issue. u could just swap the tail housing and shifter rod, or, like i did many yrs ago for the 808 i had is to modify the fb trans to move the shifter forward aprox 4". that involved shortening both the shifter rod and the tube, and cutting off where the remote part with the 4 bolts and moving it to the most forward 2 bolt holes. worked great.
