Would you guys know if any 5 speed shifter would work in an SA (79/80) tranny? I just put in an SA tranny in my REPU and the original truck shifter works, just is oriented backwards. I'm thinking an FB/SA shifter would be the way to go.

81+ is dfifferent from 80 and below. I cant remember exactly but the 79-80 shifter has a different design from an old school, and if you use it, it may hit the bench seat. Its been awhile and I need more heine's to boot up my memory.

 

the 79-80 is longer than an fb shifter and is bent slightly back the fb shifters are shorter

 

Do you guys know of a good short shifter for a SA?

 

Cut down and re-thread the original shifter - nothing on the market for SAs.

thats whats i was going to do. i have a cheap carbon fiber shift **** thats uses a set screw so i dont even have to thread it.

 

Yea i was afraid of that...cool cool i'll give it a try
